Dear Half life fans,

Years ago, back in the day when Mac gaming actually meant something and PC gaming was getting off to a great start, I played games solely on computers. Well the world changed and I met this little guy named Mario so I bought an N64 and couldn't get enough of Mario. Mario Mario Mario.

So as the years went by Mac gaming died and I was pissed. It's not that I dislike PCs, only that for my work (job) and what not I have to use Macs because they do my kind of work so much better. Not trying to start a flame here on my first post, just going with the reality of things. PCs have gaming, Macs don't. That's true too.

Anyway, I got a 360 awhile back and to my pleasant surprise Valve was releasing five games in one (holy shit!). I've thought about it, I love Half Life from the old days and am curious about a few things about the Orange Box. I don't have a PC that would do justice to a game like this so I thought I'd pick up the 360 version so I could get in on some awesome multiplayer in my neighborhood.

So, here are my questions concerning the Box:

1) How does the game look on 360? Does the framerate drop a lot? Does it play much better than the Xbox 1 version of the game? How good is the draw distance and how detailed are the textures?

2) Is Lost Coast included with the console versions (I've heard a lot about this and it would suck if it were not included).

Anyway, thanks everybody for tolerating that huge block of text up there.

I wouldn't be concerned about missing out on the Lost Coast, you aren't missing much especially since the 360 versions of HL2 and its episodes already have the technology it was originally designed to show off.

Well, I'm curious to see this because I've played the Xbox 1 version, which was great, but it was like playing Half Life on a crappy PC. Frame rate drops to the basement, pop up graphics etc. A masterpiece on a great PC, but a flawed masterpiece on the Xbox because of the hardware limitations. Will Half Life on 360 "blow my socks off?"

yes hl2 and hl2 ep1 have the new graphics. valve will sometime get around to releasing it for the pc version.

Well I don't own a 360 but I've heard nothing but good things about the 360 edition of the Orange Box.

Don't be too disappointed about no lost cost. it was after all just and intro to the new lighting in the game and a bit of a commentary on how they made it. You play it once and you probably wouldn't touch it again for a long time.

Oh, I wouldn't say that. The level was really well-designed, for a tech demo.

The Lost Coast is a nice spoiler free demo for HL2 and its episodes. At least that's what I last used it for, a friend had bought the Orange Box but wanted to play HL1 before getting into HL2 so I told him to try the Lost Coast just so he could play a sample of what he had bought.
