So Gman saved Alyx despite (I assume) his superiors (naysayers) thinking she was going to be worthless to whatever it is the Gman and his employers are trying to accomplish. He says he can do nothing but watch out for you as you go, he's been given restrictions. So we know he can't just pluck people out of disasters for no reason, he's gotta really believe in what he's doing to disobey orders or advice from whomever he works for like he did with Alyx, because he won't even do it FOR YOU!
Now, Alyx has to be more important to what's going on than any other character at this point in the series, and because Gman saved her, the relationship between Eli, her and Gman has to be alot more important than anyone has conceived. You had to go through and put in motion an interplanetary war for the Gman to take note of you. He saved Alyx for some very, very good reason, and it couldn't have solely been to tell us that we need to prepare for unforeseen consequences.
So what is it and why does/did Eli know about Gman (did the two make a deal for Alyx's life like he may have made a deal with Breen to put him in charge of earth and 'save' it, in exchange for something?) and why didn't he tell you, knowing there was no way you had just disappeared for 10 years and come back, out of nowhere, without aging at all?
