Random "Pause" screen durring CS:S

Hello, I am posting for a friend who has a very interesting problem. While playing on "any" server his game will "pause". A small yellow "hl2 style" box appears in the middle of the screen saying "pause" He can be killed but can't do anything while in thius state. Just recently he has changed his motherboard. All new and uptodate drivers, A64 2.9Ghz DFI Nf4 Expert/ Radeon x850xtpe/ USB audigy2 / 1Gb Mushkin redline. Really the only thing changed recently was the mobo. All was good? before that. Fresh install of windows. And now 2 installs of HL2/CS:S. I have found only 2 other instances of people describing his trouble on the internet. Unfourtunatly niether of these pointed to a solution. I wasn't even under the impression that CS:S was "pauseable" . Any help would be greatly apreciated. Thanks Ahead of time! :smoking:

Is the software pirated? Did you look on the steam forums?

Not pirated and have searched steam for this but no luck yet. Can't think of anything else really. thanks though
