Ratman

I keep reading references to a 'ratman', supposedly writing messages on the walls, etc. Could anyone explain a little more who he is?

He's just the guy that leaves the weird scrawlings on the walls all over the facility, in the back areas. You might see things like "Thecakeisalie" etched over and over again into the side of a wall, or photographs of sexy ladies with the cube stuck over the head. That's ratman. Or maybe there's a lot of ratmen, previous test subjects or former Aperture Science employees who worked their way into the backstage of GlaDoS's domain and never got out again. Or maybe they did. Who knows?

Whoever they are, they serve as indirect story mechanism and guide through the areas that GlaDoS won't. Be thankful to them, whoever they are.
