My brother bought HL2 when it was released (I made him buy it). Now I want to get my own version of HL2, and he has offered me to buy his!
I don't want MY game to be registered with his details (e-mail etc.), though.

So, my question: is it possible to re-register HL2 and Steam with other personal details so that it will be my e-mail, name and so on that is listed??
Or is Steam and HL2 binded to the first registered person's details??

Thanks, Kifpe

I think you can, but you have to send $10 to Valve to de-register (if that even is a word) your copy. I'm not 100% sure though.

There's your answer ;)

I'd kind of like to be able to change the email the games are bound to though. I've stopped using my old email address, and am using a new one exclusively.

Ah, ok. Thanks for those answers :)

Then I'll just buy my own HL2... And that brings up an other question:
Will retail, hard box copies of HL2 be available at all after Valve and Vevindi "bracking up"??

Hi,

We are making arrangements to continue retail distribution of our products post August 31. Should have more details to share soon.

Cheers

In short: Yes.

Settings -> change contact email.

My brother plays my version of Half Life 2.

you can change the account name, though it will take some time - since it is HL2 you are replacing there is NO 10 dollar handling fee, as someone above wrongly stated there was.

if it was a retail version your brother got go here:

if he bought it over steam theres nothing much you can really do.

you can also use this form to send in your cd key to get it reset, if you have the retail version:
