The Red Moon ~ A Fantasy RPG using the HL2 engine:

Why would one want to play my mod:

Though not the most unique idea in the world, this mod is a HL2 rpg mod using 3rd person perspective. The reason one would want to even pick up this mod is because of the interesting battle sequences i have planed out. For example: Using rag doll physics will be a great thing to add to a mod using an RPG turn base game. One reason for this is because when you kill an animal, it looks like you kill them. When selecting "attack" you have 3 different directions of attack (at random). Front, Left and Right are the directions that can be chosen. When attacking right, if it kill the enemy, it will make the enemy fall sidways besides a different way of dieing. This allows a unique way for the enemy to die no matter who they are fighting. I may (this is may) allow online battles against Netorious Monsters (very strong monsters) and a certain amount of people who have chosen their player model. This will allow maybe 16 players fighting the same monster. This may also allow Online Dong eons, to create a bit more atmosphere in the game. Most of all, I plan to have a good story by the end of the writing process and i will share the story with the mod team chapter by chapter, and I will also instruct what people should be working on so that they can all send me the work i need to run a beta of the game besides just having a bunch of un textured models but no game play screen shots.

What Features I plan to add to my mod:

There are many things I can add to this mod, and the following techniques are what i will use for the battle system and world environments.

Timed Hits

Something that hasn't been seen in many RPGs now is the timed hits feature. A good example of this is the SMRPG game. When the player starts to attack the enemy, pressing a certain button will make it so that it does a second attack after the first, doubling the amount of damage.

Throw able Objects

You will now be able to see your character throw the actual objects at people when using the command. So if i wanted to throw, lets say, a ninja star (which will be added to the game), it will throw the object, or see it move, through the enemy and the enemy will go backwards. This can simply be done by modifying the Gravity gun weapon.

Realistic Terrain and Realistic Lighting:

Using the HDR addition to HL2 Source Engine, we will be able to make very creative and realistic looking cities. Seeing as this is mostly a fantasy mod, lighting seems to be crucial to the game itself.

Technology/This also leads up to a mini plot

Weapons such as guns and cannons have just been invented, they are used mostly in the military and swords/combat weapons are used by the thieves and crooks of the world. This leads to the character, who is a "Thief" in the way that he steals stuff from people. (not going to be like a final fantasy thief, just the background of the story.) He uses combat weapons but not too far from the beginning you will start to see technology take place in the game. Transportation is mostly done by boats/bikes. Mostly you will see the characters on boats (i don't plan on adding a bike vehicle in the game, though its not such a bad idea.)

World Terrain

Using small player models, and a normal size world, we will be able to make a map that is decent size while making it look naturally big for the player. Such tactics can be seen in the final fantasy games. This will allow a simple but easier to navigate world. And also will help make the additions of vehicles in the mod.

For who I'm looking for in general, I will probably only need a coder and some concept artists for the time being. If there are any applications, please show some work you have done (i know its hard for coding, but i can let it slide because im so desperate.) Coders must be able to help me out with mapping (edit: what i mean by this is helping me create triggers for the level disign, to make it so a random encounter thing can be activated in some maps, and some maps can be the battle backgrouns/arena.). For the time being, we will only start creating the terrains and battle scenes that will load up with certain triggers put into the map.

As for concept artists: I would love to see some work. If you can help out with this i would love to have you as an addition.

Site Manager would be great IMO, because I myself am horrible at site design. :o

I have good thoughts with this idea, and i am willing to take suggestions when given to me.

Please, Help Me out, I map so i will be able to do alot of the areas.
