Remembering the release date of HL2

of course i can! every time the 16th of a month goes by, i think "HL2 came out x months ago :P"

november 16th right? I remeber waking up early to go on mIRC and everyone was in there counting down, and then there was flooding for pages for like 10 minutes, madness and happiness! Good times ;(

yeah, I was up the next morning at about 10am playing until about 2-3 am then getting like 6 hours of sleep and beating it the next day.

i still enjoyed that thread the day before the 16th about what would happen if something happened to ur computer one day before hl2

yeah I remember that day, I got home from work at 5:00 pm and couldn't play HL2 till 8:00 pm because Valve's servers were overloaded and I couldn't decrypt my files. ****ing Valve. :D

Haha.

I remember playing till 5:00 AM that night.

Class the next day was pretty rough.

I woke up, switched the PC on (having already 'preloaded' HL2) and launched Steam - imgine my joy when it said 'Unlocking Half Life 2" or whatever it said. This started at around 8AM on the 16th, then by 8.20AM I was loading it up. I got lucky, cos a few people I knew were trying to get on from about 9am and the servers were just too busy to download it.

Well, TBH, I actually didn't know when it was released. I had no idea. :o
It was postponed that many times I just gave up, and just thought "when it's on the shelves, I'll buy it"
Then someone told me it was out, and I didn't believe them, so I phoned Game, and sure enough. So then I have to upgrade the PC, which ended up taking a week, due to faulty parts!
Sure was great the first time I ran it though :p

I was in London...

I was on a bus going to london for a uni trip at the exact piont the bus left
Halflife 2 came out in the UK. I have never ran so fast home 3 days later to play the dam thing. Ur right about 1 thing though the next day was rough !!!

;)

I remember running home with Half-life 2 in me backpack. I remember throwing away the backpack once it was in my hand and hearing the distinct sound of my school laptop hitting the wall and coming apart but did I care? No!
I remember seeing Gordon on the autorun screen. I remember the install bar growing and growing. Then Steam got messed up due to servers being overloaded no doubt, but did I care? No because the people here, right here on HL2.net helped me fixed it! I remember klicking "Play game". I remember the VALVe logo appearing. I remember a chill going down my spine as the "loading" meter grew more and more full. I remember G-mans face after years and years of wait and him opening his lips to speak...

And then I remember that asshole son-of-a bastard's bastard bitch of a neighbour starting up his goddamn powerdrill for THREE HOURS STRAIGHT ON THAT ONE DAY!
Then things get a bit hazy...

I remember waking up at around 7am and just chatting on msn till 8, when it unlocked.. it took around 15min (I was one of the lucky ones I think).. I managed to open it, and watch the menu screen for a minute or so before having to rush to school :P School was hell, I just wanted to play.. what made it worse was that I had a maths tutor coming round straight after school, gah hehe :)

I remember power-walking it home from school with my copy in my bag, thinking "Don't do anything stupid now, don't get yourself run over, you've come too far to **** up now" :p

Got up at 3:00 AM and fired up the PC, activated it on steam, and had it beat by 5 PM the next day.
