Hey There,

Im Eric, lead to Public Relations for Resistance & Liberation Half-Life 2 Mod. Which is a work in progress WWII Realistic Infantry Simulation set in Normandy, 1944. It is very close to completion with all the foundations set and a solid ingame beta. Some of our key features include:

* No crosshair
* Weight and intertia added to weaponry
* Full balistics added to weaponry
* No HUD
* No death messages
* Revised score display
* An advanced damage system

We are looking to fill Animator positions. We are in dire need of someone who can work with .XSI files and is capable of doing realistic player and weapon animations.

If interested, please feel free to PM me here or go through our Official Website

Thanks

an entire player animation set is pretty ambitious, or are you planning to graft new animations onto the existing human sdk ones?

we have some basic sets done, so it would "only" involve doing the upper body animations for a few more weapons.

I was under the impression that RnL is looking to go commercial based off the success of the mod. Can you confirm/deny this and if the former is true, can you specify what percentage or one-off royalty fee any animator would be likely to collect for their part in this.

nice, just out of curiosity, how long did it take you to get all the base sets done?

also are you using the source blending as a reference or doing it all yourself?

If we could go commercial it would be great, don't see it happening unless someone has a few million dollars hidden away in their sock draw.

We're only going to be a free mod unless something fantastic happens.

It's just that I remember, a loooooong time ago, an early 'help wanted' post on some forum which stated the mod was going to be making a demo version to send to publishers. I think it was for this mod because the production values were quite high, it was Source, it was WWII theatre, and the demo was referred to specifically as a 'campaign'. I think it's safe to say there's an awful lot of polish to your mod as far as looks goes and it seems professionally run, so my gut feeling is that it was this one.

You don't need $1,000,000 of your own money to get a game released. The easiest route would be through Steam (hopefully retaining the IP), and I'm sure a negotiation based on sales percentage as opposed to up front money could be sorted out with Valve.

Anyway the point is, you haven't ruled out going commercial, so people deserve to know straight up how a commercial venture would be handled in terms of remuneration for developers involved. The sort of skilsets you're asking for (2-3 years experience, etc.) are professional quality, so professionals might want to know where they stand if the mod were to get funding for a commercial development.

Crispy,

I believe you are mixing us up with 1944 Game, which originally started out with a source engine mod in hopes of getting picked up by a publisher. Over at RnL we are doing this for free and all love what we do.

Okay, my mistake, sorry about that. It does get a bit confusing with all these WWII mods. :P

We are still looking for an animator! Please contact me if at all interested.

Thanks
