I've literally forgotten about the lotr series, after it got 11 oscars....

Anyway - does anybody have an idea when this'll come out? I don't want to buy the normal version.

Yeah, it seemed like it is never coming out! ;( I only really want the extended edition because I got the first two for presests, though. Heh, gotta remain consistant...

Ahh, thanks.

No, I stopped following LOTR news after it got the oscars...lost intrest.

Damn it. I really want the extended edition DVDs, but I have more important things to buy. They total like 90 bucks. :( I know if I don't buy them soon they'll probably quit making them and then I'll have to order them on E-Bay or something. BTW, how much better are the extended editions in comparison to the theatrical release? Just for the main movie though, I don't care for 12 documentaries on any of my DVDs anyway.

The extras makes it worth it imho. And the 50 new minutes of footage obviously. I love PJ for all this. But I lost interest after the last movie came out. Before that, I followed the news religiously every day on www.theonering.net I hope they make the Bilbo movie/tv-series just as good as the trilogy. Then I would be set for life.

*Will live the rest of my days after I pass away in Middle Earth. No doubt about it. If I get to choose that is*

Oh dear lord... did it really need to be extended?

Dude 50 minutes is nothing. Come back when they're 9 hours each ;)

Yes! The Films were to short in my opinion.

Of course! Goodness, too much was cut out from the film that had to be in there. Overall, in watching it on midnight, the film was too short and contained too few endings.
I'm probably gonna get the Gift Set, to give to myself.

Anyone up for a 14-hour marathon?

Although I have all three films on DVD, I'm waiting for the day they put them all in the same box with every extra feature there is :D Probably be bigger than my band of brothers collection :O

Maybe one day, when we have something better than DVD, it will be released on one item of the new format.

I can't wait for the extended edition. Too much was left out IMO, but the movie was still amazing. I'm still saddened by the fact that they left out the scouring of the shire, and thereby the real ending of Sarumann's existence, but still 50 more minutes will probably make up for a lot of sad moments :)

I love the work of Tolkien (my nickname probably shows it) and hope that PJ will make "The Hobbit" (and maybe parts of "Silmarillion") into a movie after the remake of "King Kong". PJ and his lotr crew changed the whole standard of movies IMO.

Im most looking forward to seeing the voice of saruman and the mouth of sauron scenes restored to the film.
