Sceen dimming

I recently opened steam, it updated, and within a few seconds after this the screen dimmed. The thing is, it isnt a problem with the screen. When you turn on the computer, the logo and everything look normal. It isnt until you get to the log in page that the screen is dim. You log in, and it will look normal again, but 2 seconds later it is dim again. And the confusing part is that the pointer on the screen (the arrow) is not dim.

I am not sure if this was caused by the steam update, though it seems very likely, as I have never had any problem like this before. Does anyone know what is wrong or things that I can try to do to fix it.

That's funny.. Ive never heard of a game update changing it but you should check your gamma level under display properties. It depends on what you have installed but its usually under display properties/color. I'm sure you'll find it.

I believe its a user setting because they only load after you sign in and that is all that came to my mind.

Maybe Degauss (Demagnetize your screen, there's a button on your screen somewere, you might have to press two buttons at once)?
