Screen freezes - possible causes?

I have great fps (90-150) most of the time but the game does a little screen freezy thing everytime something substantial changes on the screen. Dropping vid quality increases the fps, but doesn't really change the freezys. Dropping the sound quality did seem to help some with the freezys, but on medium the game sounds poor.

All the drivers are updated.

System:
P4 3.4Ghz
2 gig DDR400
X800 Pro
Abit IC7-Max3 mobo
Audigy 2 ZS

Anybody got suggestions or ideas?

Is your heapsize big enough? Try setting it to 512 MB.

put this parameter in front of your CS:S exe (a HL2.exe in the css folder) :

-heapsize 512000

I did that and it did seem to help, thanks.
