Sending Client Info, stops responding

If I join any server, it gets to the point of "Sending Client Info" and the whole process stops responding. My firewall allows hl2.exe full access. How can I fix this?

I have the same problem, except its not on every server, sometimes when the map changes while on the same server it happens then, its really anoying when your playing with a friend:flame: . I here the windows error peep in the background but can't get out of Half life 2 even with ctrl+alt+del. Someone please help!:dozey:

Does the window where the progress bar get darker also? If so, the server is paused. At least that's what happens when you try to connect to a paused server.

I have'nt noticed the bar getting any darker, and my friend who I play with can play the next map no problem! so I think its some Hardware/software issue spacific to my computer.

Well try pressing enter then it should get out of HL2, it must bring the error message forward in memory yet not draw it on screen. Happened to me with D2. Would mess up and then had to hit enter and it would then go to my desktop.
