Steve Gibson (Shacknews) has posted more information backing the legitmacy of Gabe Newell's post on our forums and the Half-Life 2 source code topic after a phone call with Gabe himself. Here's a piece of what was said:

In general, the community has been remarkably swift at tracking down the sources of the leak. What would be most helpful now are IP addresses of the people who were responsible for the intrusion or for the denial of service attacks.

Other points of interest included amidst the article are references to Valve's network security, the tools used by the hackers and how they're combating the problem inside their offices in Seattle.
