Shacknews does episode 2 + 1 new shot

Hmm... large scale battles... hunters... oooh I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.

Hmm I wonder if there's a zombie chapter in EP2.

Very nice preview.

Along with the new nonlinear encounters, Episode Two features an updated auto-save system that checks whether the player is in the midst of combat before saving the game. This avoids situations of an auto-save happening at an inopportune moment, a situation that would otherwise be more likely with Episode Two's potentially very long battles.

All of the new shots coming from previews are using low-res textures. That's got to be deliberate.

Hunter combat sounds awesome, the more like HL2DM the better!

The article spoiled the whole game, damnit. Now there is no surprises anymore, they told everything where to go and what to do :(

There's still the ending. And you haven't actually played the game yet. Do you dislike Doom because you know you're going to be fighting demons from Hell in Mars and on their home turf?

doom 3 had so much promise..dammit..they just wanted to showcase their engine i think, not that its used much anyway..

funny how one picture brings all the memories back...I just cant wait enylonger...

Hmm I wonder if there's a zombie chapter in EP2.

Hmmmm, personally I hope they stop short of another entire chapter devoted to zombie action. I've kind of had my fill of it. Even zombie areas like the ones in Anticitizen 1 have gotten a little tiresome. On the other hand, Lowlife turned out to be very good gameplay-wise. I guess we'll just have to trust Valve's judgement for now.

If nothing else, I hope the standard headcrab zombies get a change of shirt. It made sense for them to be wearing lab coats in HL1, but in HL2 it's just lame that they're all dressed the same. Now that I think about it, maybe their shirts represent an older version of the citizen uniform...

The citizen uniform comes with a white undershirt. You can see some rebels wearing it. Mind, a little variation would be nice... different blood patterns, that sort of thing.

We are to assume then that the onset of zombie-itis is followed quickly by a brief and intense fever which causes the infected party to remove his jacket in a frenzied attempt to cool off (or, in the case of fast zombies, all of their clothes and all of their skin).

No, but the zombie has a freaking hole in the belly, I find it hard to believe a jacket would survive such a treatment.

God, I'm so hyped for Ep2! Can't wait to fight the Hunters. I'm also looking forward to the increased playtime, the preview mentioned playtesters took eight to nine hours. Even if that's not the case, it will surely be longer than Ep1.

Didn't one of the older previews mention "one of the largest puzzles EVER in an fps"?

Or was it my imagination.

Blast Pit, anyone?

Pit Worm?

Sandtraps?

Direct Intervention?

Yeah, I remember that. That was the PC Gamer one, I think, but they could just be referring to Portal.

Alyx has a cut on her chin, a new facial detail that should add some reinforcement to the seriousness/toughness of the battles they've all been through

Oooh, really interested in the Hunter AI, but I hope they are not implemented at every battle, as that would make it boring.

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm? ;)

Yeah, because it's been gettin so hot lately sense Gordon came back. He's so hot and sechsy, the zombies in ravenholm were just like "It's gettin hot in here, so take off all yo clothes!" HAHA! Imagine a bunch of zombies with their tortured petrified expressions dancing to that... Yeah... N... N... No...

I hope that, when the new graphical update with HDR and stuff comes for HL2, they'll include different skins for the zombies, you know, maybe wearing blue for once? Or rebel zombies?

Damn, I could go for some more of that. Blast Pit was, for me, the most memorable area of the first game and Direct Intervention was a franchise high point. It didn't hurt that the latter was eye-hemorragingly beautiful to look at.

Hey, say what you like about the Combine, but they make a quality jacket: rugged polyester exterior, luxuriant faux-satin lining...

It was referring to Ep2, the largest physics puzzle ever. It was next to a screenshot that had several logs or something, I seem to remember...
