god damn it, Splinter Cell: Double Agent Delayed

"Ubisoft's latest financial report (quarter-on-quarter sales up, full year expectations down) reveals that the next Splinter Cell title, Double Agent, has been pushed back to September as Ubisoft believes there will be a larger base of consumers to play it as Xbox 360s shouldn't be quite so hard to obtain by then."

Age of Conan delayed till q4

BF2 Booster pack delayed

all of them were announced in the last 24 hours ..wtf is wrong with developers? are they really that short sighted that thye cant accurately predict their release dates? The more the delay a game the more fans get pissed off and start dropping like flies ...a far better solution would be to give a rough date and then announce a firm date once the game either goes gold or shortly before

I'm sick to death of waiting for a game (they crank up the hype meter at least a year in advance) and then a few weeks before release it's pushed back 6 months ..I'd much rather they announced a game 3-4 months before completion: no surprises, no frustrated gamers, and marketing money can be more wisely spent on a few short months instead of stretched out over the year ..it's the way hollywood has been doing things I dont see why this is different

I really don't bother with delays. I'd rather play a fully developed game than a rushed game. Altho the SplinterCell delay is a commercial one, it seems. I don't like that.

me too, I'd much rather have quality over a rushed product ..but it's like Stalker ..the developers kept saying "oh it's working out nicely we're wrapping up development soon" ...but then the next day in the gaming press: "Stalker delayed till Q2 2075 barring any further unforeseen circumstances; We're trying to make the game as super as we possibly can, perhaps more super then when we first announced it back in 2003"

I call ****ing poppycocks :dozey:

Agreed!

I hate how they get everyone hyped up, release is just around the corner. Then POW! they annouce it's been delayed for god knows how long. Then they do it again 6 months down the line. >_<

what's worse is the people who say

"oh that's ok as long as they make the game even more super then before" the day before release ...almost as if they dont want to jinx the developers or something

Hahaha! What a ridiculous excuse! What in the world is wrong with releasing it now and if its that great, people will get it when they get their 360 anyway?!

And what about the PC version??? How does this affect that??? Ugh...absurd.

A poster on IGN's forums had this to say and its hilariously true!

Some Random IGN poster said:
Consumers are holding off buying the 360 because there aren't any good games yet. Developers are holding off putting out games because there are no consumers who own the 360 yet. Counter intuitive?

Splinter Cell is a bummer, but its not like I've got a 360 yet anyway. So it probably won't make a diff of bifference to me.

Often it is actually the publisher who "predicts" a release date way earlier then the developers do.

Well, there goes the 360's launch window shining star. A Splinter Cell game would really have helped things along. Nice one, Ubi.

I'm not a big SC fan (don't have the patience/attention span for stealth games) but I'm a little miffed over the BF2 booster pack. Nonetheless, I must call out Ubisoft for being douches: Ubisoft, you are douches.

Red Orchestra Ostfront is going to be released in March as opposed to January now, not that I mind too much. John Gibson was very noncommittal about the release date in the first place.

It was more fun when I didn't follow games much, and was pleasantly suprised everytime a corker came out.

Wow, I did not think Xbox 360 shortages would ever have translated into games being delayed. Microsoft better get it's act together soon.

yes I agree ..keeping up with HL2 news before release almost killed my enjoyment of it ..with aftermath I havent seen or read one stitch of information so it'll be a surprise from start to finish ...unless some of you want to spoil it for me

/me whips out pen knife :frown:

I'm with you. I hardly know anything about AM, only that you're C17 after the end of HL2, maybe some other minor details. I get to be pleasantly surprised. :D

Does this really surprise anyone? Every game I've been waiting for these past couple years has been delayed, even when the date was set by the developer. As much as I hate the bullshit answer "when it's done", it's far more appropriate than saying something is coming out and then being like "well, umm, it's not done yet, so, I guess you'll have to wait"

I just wish these bastards would stop being such cock teases

all i can say, is try being a dame developer or maker. Its not easy and if they skip over a release date.. give em a break. Plus much of the time they are trying to perfect what they want to release. NOthing wrong with waiting.. i know it sucks. but its part of the gaming life..

Mikey:cheers:
