First off, I want to say yes, this thread is about the G Man, but not in the way that your thinking. This isn't a theory, and I don't want the thread to derail into theories about the G Man. Here's what I'm asking. Since its probable that the G Man will appear again, how many sightings do you want in Episode Three? Should he do more then just be walking aimlessly by straightening his tie and brushing himself? Or should he stick to the old method of watch and stalk? How many speeches should he have? How revealing should they be? Should G Man be a focus of the game, with many appearances throughout, or should he only pop up every now and then?

I want a freakin' Barbara Walters interview with him on the View.

Seeing as how Episode 3 will be the final story arc for Half Life, I'm going to say that it starts out with mere sightings and it slowly increases to the point where the G-Man physically interacts with Gordon.. telling him the truth.

I kind of like the idea that Alyx will see him as well at some point. He's got her in his control and now that she's becoming part of the master plan as such, he could reveal that he's controlling things. Also, the Vortigaunts have weaved Gordon and Alyx's lives together, and since the Vorts know of the G-Man and have at least some kind of power over him then perhaps they somehow arranged it that Gordon and Alyx need to be together to ensure one another's survival. This would at least results in a G-Man speech which involves Alyx and Gordon. Perhaps that's one way they could keep Alyx as part of the game for future titles.

(Hope this doesn't fall under the theory category too much, don't want to get into that again.)

It does fall into theory, but it isn't a G Man theory, and besides, I like theories. That particular one I had thought of myself, I think its a good idea, a really good way for keeping Alyx in the series. I also like the idea of Alyx starting to see the G Man, it'll also be a great way for less observant players to see G Man sightings. It only takes Alyx pointing and saying, "Who is that?". And it'll be one heck of a progress of the story. Also, if G Man has a speech and Alyx can hear, then she'll realize that this stranger has been talking with Gordon for a while. And that might be all it takes for her to turn her anger or whatever the heck she's feeling at her father's death, on Gordon. It'll be interesting to say the least.

Personally, if they do start having Alyx notice the G Man, I want it to slowly develop subtely. Like we on the first sighting, she's looking around curiously, like she thought she saw something. On the second one or third, she says stuff like, "Did you hear that?" or "Did you see that?" and its only in the later ones that she fully starts to see him.

And also, just because this is the end arch of the Half Life 2 that doesn't mean that G Man has to reveal himself. In fact, I don't see any reason why he would. The less his "employees" know about him, the more power he has over them. There's no way that Valve will be ending the francise after Ep. 3. I'll bet that a HL3 is already being discussed and planned out. Besides, I have a inkling that we'll never know for sure who or what the G Man is or his intentions. He's too of a iconic figure for that.

I don't think we will know much more about the Gman in Episode 3. The main focus for episode 3 is The Boreallis. This is only the end of the Half-Life 2 story arc not Half-Life as a whole. We'll find out more about the Gman, but not much more. There is a fine balance Valve have in regard to how much to expose of the Gman. They reveal the slightest bit of info while raising more questions.
I hope Alyx doesn't start noticing the Gman. The Gman sightings are little Easter eggs for the more observative players, having Alyx pointing him out ruins it. Also having Alyx getting to involved with the Gman kinda ruins his mystic.

Actually we don't know that the main focus of episode 3 will be the Borealis, we only know that the Aperture research ship will play a role. Though, I do agree with you that we won't find out much more about the G Man and I also can see where your coming from with the Alyx - G Man thing, but I still say that its a cool idea and that it can be a good addition to Half Life if done right.

Actually, we know virtually nothing about Episode 3.

Exactly. All we know is that their original intention, prior to Eli's attack, was to take the helicopper to the Borealis, we can't even say for sure that agenda is going to stay the same now that Eli is dead. After all, the rebellion has just lost its head, there's gotta be repucusions from that. I doubt things will just continue on normally.

My goal:

Episode 3 threads without any question marks whatsoever.

Wow. I got my first facepalm. I think I've been officially accepted onto this site.

Also, no they weren't. What, are you saying that Gordon has really been in a statis this entire time? Well, if you're gonna say that. You might as well say that HL2 was a dream sequence. G Man never really let Gordon out of the statis originally. Actually, lets go as far as saying that the entire Half Life series is a dream sequence. Gordon was just having one heck of a twisted nightmare.

Actually...Gordon Freeman might not even exist...

That'll be a bummer.

Haha, you fell for it.

Come on sheepo, treat the manhack with respect. He's a good 'un. He hasn't plastered Gman theories yet, so I give him my seal of approval.

They all deserve a beating.

/me has a really angry and mean face for absolutely no reason

And I mentioned I don't plan to. Not until new information is given to us (possibly in Ep. 3) and I actually have something worth giving. And also, thanks for the compliment.

Any time, you seem like a good kid. Stay, we need more people's souls to devour.

Sorry, your a tad late. I already sold my soul to the director at my school play. It's a one-time deal thing. If you want, you can make negotiations with her. Personally, I'll find it kinda funny to know that people are fighting over my soul. It makes me feel special.

I think the Gman fanboys are going to be disappointed in the content of him in Ep 3. Depending on how long the game is, I feel like the Borealis will be the focus of about half of the game, leaving the rest up in the air. I agree that this won't be the conclusion of half-life. Just the end of the story arch for HL2. I feel like if/when there is a Half-Life 3, the G-Man will be much more involved in the main plot of the story.
