Anyone flung themselves from a plane before? Im going on a RAPS skydiving course this weekend as its something ive always wanted to do, basically you jump from about 3500ft and (hopefully) a static line pulls your chute open, as you progress the higher you jump, and eventually go on to free fall. I cant wait :cheese:

Has anyone ever done this before?

Hands down THE most adrenaline pumping, mind blowing experiences any human can ever go through. That feeling in your stomach as you plummet to the earth.

Looks really slow when youre looking down and seeing the ground get closer, but then the chute deploys and you jerk backward and THAT moment when youre floating down is just awesome. YOu see everything.

God i miss it *sniff*

No, but I'm sure as hell doing it before I die.

Adrenaline ftw.

Well...I haven't skydived per-say, but I have jumped off of a tall diving board in the nude before.

Pics or it didn't happen.

My girlfriend took it with her Nikon D40.

I really want to skydive, and since I'm afraid of heights, I think it might work out well for that insane adrenaline rush.

If at first you don't succeed, for god's sakes don't go skydiving.

I want to skydive asap. It's the next logical step from flying a plane and racing in a murcielago. :D

I think it'd be awesome but frankly I'm not sure I'd be physically capable of making myself jump out of the airplane.

My phsyics teacher went skydiving for our physics lesson... well, not quite, but he showed us the video to demonstrate air restistance and forces and stuff. Was quite patronising, as we were in upper sixth, but it was still funny watching him. He was shaking and all, before hand. Heh.

Exactly. I'm also scared shitless of heights, but the thought of jumping from a plane is oddly calming. It sounds like a great thing to do.

Same with bungee jumping, only that's more terrifying because the ground is much closer.

Then I'd probably just pass out on the way down and die. That's an awful lot of air and distance and I've got a phobia about heights (to the point where I basically start freaking out even if I'm not really in danger, anytime I'm close to an edge it scares the **** out of me).

Luckily for you, you have to strapped to someone for the first 5 times or so.

Oh man, I'd definitely do it if I was strapped to someone.

I don't know about all this "first five times" thing though, if I go skydiving I'm going skydiving ONCE and then saying "Yeah, I've been skydiving."

I'm not entirely sure whether you meant, yes, I wanted to go, but didn't want to go for fear of not having anyone else there... or yes, being strapped to someone is so great I'd go skydiving to do it...

Well then it doesn't matter if I realize that I'm freefalling more than half a mile above the ground and pass out, is what I meant. So the former.

Ah right. I hear it's exhilerating, and it's something you "have to do". So if you had the chance, I'd personally take it. I'm a coward so I wouldn't do it. Although I tend to make impulsive decisions, so I probably would. :p

Someone randomly asked me if I wanted to go bungee jumping once. They didn't give me chance to think about it, so I said no. Better to be safe than sorry.

I'd like to go skydiving sometime. Would prefer not to be strapped to someone, though.

I wouldn't want to bungee jump. Ground too close, heh.

Happened to me at the top of the Eiffel Tower. It's physically impossible to fall down since you'd have to fall upwards (which makes the whole idea of falling down obsolete), but the top wasn't fun to be on. So I left.

Um... why would you need to fall upwards off the Eiffel Tower??

It doesn't matter, they push you out the door anyway. :D

I'd love to go skydiving, but it's just been too expensive to entertain. When my finances are in better order, I'd consider getting a license and taking it up as a sport. It only costs like ?18 per jump when you're a licensed skydiver.

Do it.... you wont regret it. Doing a tandem sky dive was the most exhilarating experience I've ever had. It was so mind blowing that i even forgot to breathe for the first 30 seconds of my fall or so! I did my dive from 14,000 feet which is quite a bit higher than the norm of 10k thanks to the atmospheric conditions at the time. It was so high that when i stepped out of the doorway i could see a slight curvature of the horizon. After lifted my legs of the floor and placing my head back on the instructors shoulder in the student tandem position i looked up and saw that the sky was a gorgeous deep blue colour similar to the very top of this image...

Book one.... now!!

I don't think I'd be able to get that far D:

Its pretty much the same as Ennui, if I was strapped to an expert, what the hell, why not.
