Well i just brought Half Life 2 and Half Life 2: Episode One on computer and before i continue Half Life 2 i wan't some question's answered please.

How'd the Alien's get to earth?
Why'd the Alien's come to earth?
Are the mutan'ts part of the Alien's in suits, meaning are they on the same team?
What are the Alien's planning to do to the earth?
Who are those nice Alien's that give you a power up once in a while and call you the ''Freeman''? Are they part of the other Alien's?
Who is Dr Freeman?

Thankyou for answering these question's i just don't wan't to start Half Life 2 confused like i already am.

During Half-Life 1 there was an "accident" (although most people beleave the gman caused it) in a secret goverment lab called Black Mesa. A rift between Earth and the border world Xen is opened. You kill the alien leader and free the vortiguants (who are his slaves) however this causes an event called the portal storms to open up all over earth. The Combine (the enmies of HL2) detected the energy and so came to Earth. The aliens in HL1 were trying to flee from teh combine when the accident happened.

They are the Combine, and inter-galactic empire who invade worlds and after defeating the creatures there, augment them with technology and push their evolution too the furtherest pioint possible (they haven't finished humanity yet). They also steal knowledge adn technology, as well as drain the resources of that world.

No. The "mutants" are actaully zombies. Those crab creatures jumped on the victims head, adn transform them into zombies. They do not serve the combine. http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=110042 this is a very good article on headcrabs and zombies, its a long read but its awesome.

One more question is Half Life 2 : Episode 1 like a game? or is it like lost coast only one level?
 
Episode One is the next episode, the next chapter, a sort of minisequel/expansion combo. It conitues the story form the end of HL2. :)

Ok. You need to realise something important. You are jumping into the middle of a saga, that started with a game called Half-Life. That is why your game is called Half-Life 2. Once you realise that, you will perhapsunderstand that a lot of what has happened so far was probably covered in HL, and you might see that it would be a good idea to look up some info on HL, or even get the game (it's old and cheap now) if you still don't get what's going on in HL2.

Its not as big its an episode. It will only take you 4.5-5 hours but it is well worth as it is awesome.
 
Will there ever be one as big as half life 2????/ ever a half life 3?????? I want a game that takes ages, also on half life episode one is there a difficulty setting?
 
There is the same difficulty setting in Episode One, as there is in HL2. As for a full sequel, proboaly, though we don't know for sure.
 
If there is how long do you think untill a half life 3 or sumthing as big as half life 2 will come out?
 
I have no clue. Sorry. We've got to finish the 4 episodes first ebfore valve dicide what to do next.
 
Ok this is going to be my last question how long do you think it will take a noob to complete half life episode one on the higest difficulty? thanks for all your help also is Half Life 1 as big as half life 2 as in is it a sequel?
 
I'd say on the highest difficulty 5-6 hours depending on your skill. Half-Life 1 is about the same length. It has more levels but they are shorter. Glad to be of help. :thumbs:

It's a good site, but outdated sadly in some respects. For example, it states the Combine invaded Xen - a theory to which I also subscribed. However, a while ago, Valve explicitly confirmed that the Combine have never been on Xen. The site makes a great attempt at piecing the story together, but it ignores and goes against the information released by Valve in the last year or so.

A sequel? HL1? What are you on? HL1 came first, in 1998 I believe. HL2 is the sequel to HL1. You see how that works, don't you? 1, then 2.

And yes, HL1 is a long game, like HL2

WTF is with 1337 and the word noob? Anyway, They might come out with a full 'Package' of all the episodes put together into a gold thingie. Then, youll be able to play them all as if they were one big game.. So ingenious..

In Half Life 1, you did an experiment with a "sample" of something from "xen". When the sample was "tested" it ripped a hole in the border world, alowing alinens to apper on earth by teleports.

If you mean the things with the ripped open chests....no. Those are headcrab Zombies, also known as "mawman" (cause of their chests). When a headcrab latches onto a human and penetrats the skull, that happens.

Vortigaunts, they were enslaved but you saved em. (kinda by acident though)

(Hint: You play him) Gorden Freeman was a scientist who did an experiment that opend the border world.
