So... was Half Life 2 worth the wait?

After six years of waiting was Half Life 2 worth the wait? Was it worth the time it took away from your life to play. Was the story, setting, hype, gameplay, graphics, physics, enemy and weapons all up to scratch with the hype you had on November 16th? It is for most, but not for few.

I can't really answer yet, the game is not just the wait. The mods are a very big part of it aswell.

Mods are difinitely a big part, but I'd say yes. It was worth the wait, but it was over-hyped. Not neccesarily by Valve, but by people. Expect little and you will reap great rewards.

It was everything I expected and a bit more sometimes - but I never let myself overhype and wait too much. What I wanted were graphics that are at least on par with other modern games (easily got it), a decent AI (this exceeded my expectations by far), a good story (got what I expected) and good action (exceeded my expectations, especially in the last levels). The physics engine was also everything I expected. What made me love the game so much is that there were no parts I disliked, no puzzles I found frustrating and annoying, and so on. This is quite unlike even HL1, where a few places I thought to be horrible.

I knew it was just a game, so when I got it, I enjoyed (and am stilll enjoying) it for what it is. And as games go, this one is amazing.

Yeah it was definetly worth the wait, I hope we won't need to wait quite as long for the next one, but if that is what it takes to get it as good as this one, im not gonna complain .

Well worth the wait.

I was expecting an excellent game. HL2 delivered, and more. There were, however, a few disappointments. Combine AI was sub-par, the game was a bit on the short side, and I would have liked to see more weapons.

Though, the positives far outweigh the negatives. One of the best single player experiences I've had in gaming.

It was superb, though some parts do annoy me, but it is a very good game. The Weapons, and the realistic graphics are superb aswell. And even small details are brilliant too.

since I now know how much potential this game has and how many infinite aspects there are I would have waited a few more months if they could have made it even better and then maybe included the stuff they left out.

by the way I would like to say that putting the game on slo-mo really makes it a whole lot better for those who like playing with the ragdolls physics give it a try... (activate console first)

1. Press the ~ key to open the console and type in "sv_cheats 1" and press enter
2. type: bind x "host_timescale .4" and press enter
3. type: bind c "host_timescale 1" and press enter

bind what key you want and the speed you want I just wanted to put that out there, although I know alot of you already know about this but I just found it out today and its really fun.
