Some performance questions

Hi all! I've just bought my half life 2 dvd copy....

First of all, here are my cpu specs

P4 1.7 ghz... 40gb(I think at 5200rpm)
2x256M ram, pc133
A radeon 9550 256M(core 250, mem 200mhz) with a radeon 9600 pro bios (thats core 400) so it's overclocked with no problems in games such as far cry (1024x768 medium to high)

Well, first of all it takes HOURS to load almost everything,from the first scene, to ingame loading screens, about 10 min, what can I do about it?

Then, I chehed out a tweak guide, and saw some console comands like cl_showfps, fps_max dsp_slow_cpu, version.... well, the thing is that I have activated the console in the keyboard section in options, but it doesnt show up when pressing the key down esc and up tab key... any idea?

The game has a great performance (well i don't know how is the framerate going, but it seems well to me), but, when exiting to windows, it reboots, any idea?

Console is the ~ button.
net_graph 3 will give you all you need for FPS display etc (net_graph 0 to remove it)

HL2 is pretty load heavy on the memory/harddrive and also the CPU while ingame. Not really sure what tweaks would work for you since you do have a few slower parts. 10mins is too long though. Hope something works for ya. By the way, defragment your harddrive and make sure you have at least 10% free space or more.
