Some small clarifications about HL2 story

Hi to all, i'm new.
I have an idea for making a short movie about HL2. Nothing is again done, as i'm searching the right informations for the story, right materials for clothes, authorizations...
But there are some points in the HL story that are not very clear.

-The suppression field: I have played many times the first sections of the game; and the idea i have is diffrent from many HL2 common theories. I was thinking that this field was some kind of place where the combine kills human citizen; and not something that can't allow human reproduction.
Something used by the combines to "punish" citizen for act of rebellion, or maybe to force them to don't reproduct (i mean, what if the combine said "If citizen try to reproduct, they'll be sended to the suppression field"-killed).. now... this "suppression field" is clear what it is? is written or speaked somewere that is something about the reproduction? I was thinking that the thing they put in the water to make you forget, is also something that slowly erase instinct.

-The brainwash thing about the combine soldier. Is mainly accepted that the humaniod combine (soldier, metrocop....) are humans. Humans can join Civil Protection voluntary. But they have to be brainwashed. Does anyone how this works?

I ask this, because i'm writing the short story setted in City 14. Is about a guy that has been captured by Combines and brainwashed, as a punition for crimes committed or something like.
I'd imagine that this process id painful, but maybe also reversibile.
So maybe tha combine instead of erasing memories, they suppress, or "compress" is, and with the inverted prrocedure, the memories can be bringed back. Or maybe the combine steal memories and put into "backups".

And i have in mind that the guy will be freed by rebels, but he don't remember anything. They'll bring back the memories, and, as a flashback, we can see what he's done before.

There is nothing clear on the suppression field but its not something you are "punished" by, its probably just an energy field (around the city perhaps?) that doesnt allow people to reproduce if they decide to have sex...

The combine soldiers are brainwashed, but not only that they have mechanical implants in there body, so there's no way to free on. Dont know about civil protection but i reckon they just go about normall,y go through a few exercises and are thrown onto the street to get up that beating quota.

I have spent some time replaying the first chapter; and giving attention to Breen's messages. Yes, the suppression field is used to aviod reproduction. And, in the playground, as someone said in another post, some children screaming or crying can be heard.


As for the Combine Civil Protection, i'm thinking that the guy has only done the first part of the process; he don't have any mechanical implants; the combine has only taken the memories.

And, what about the age of the citizen. Most of the female citizen looks enough young to me. Alyx is probably the most young person in the game (20? 25? years); Males, looks a bit older than female, with some of these clearly not young.
