Something wrong with NPC and Prop Shadows..

Everytime I place a PROP or an NPC in a room, the shadows from the NPC don't show itself. It gets quite annoying to not see what my map looks like with shadows, once it is rendered.

I've searched over the internet, and have found certain reason why this could be happening. Some reasons I've found is that it could be my graphics card and DirectX9. But otherwise, I don't really know whats wrong?

If anyone could help out, that would be awesome.

Zanussi was having this problem, too. He says Valve did it and won't fix it.
