I think you need to take a right turn just before that.

Yep, this happens alot to people - you got turned around. The gate is 'behind' you in the screenshot is Gate 5 - thats the gate where you have a big battle with a Helicopter etc = it closes after you pass through it, thats probably why you dont realize where you are

If you turn right and keep going, eventually you'll arrive at where you got 'turned' around - its usually at the barn with the elevator for the Airboat.
