Steam IDs

Hey guys. I had a quick question. I'm buying the retail version of HL2 and I was wondering do we all get new Steam ID's once the game is released?? More importantly, are our Steam ID's based on our IP or our cd keys?

Nope, you keep the same Steam account, and you simply add the CD key (you can do this under browse games)

When you enter the key, it'll unlock HL2 for your account to access.

So Steam isn't going to come as part of the package if you buy the game retail? Cuz I think I wanna change account names and start anew. Can I do this or do I have to use the same Steam ID?

There wouldn't be anything from stopping you from making a new steam ID.

You could either do that and have your old account with it's stuff, and your new one with HL2, or simply have both accounts with all the games on it. Adding it to your current just seems more convinient (spelling) to me.

The reason I'm asking all this is when the game comes out, I definitely will no longer play the original CS or any of the other mods (EXCEPT FOR DOD). I will be playing CS Source. So maybe it does make more sense for me to just add it to my existing account....
