What are your system specifications? (A tutorial can be found here: link)

it didnt help..
That's because you have to give me your system specifications in your next reply so I know more about your computer which may help solve the problem ;)

DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) .. Memory: 512MB RAM .. Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz (2 CPUs) .. there, i hope that helps, reply back..

Well that all seems quite alright... I'll give you some troubleshooting links for screen resolutions ;)
Link 1
Link 2

You can also try forcing the resolution using the -width XXX and -height XXX parameters behind your shortcut. (Ex. -width 640 -height -480)

Oh, and could you also give me your graphic card info?

um i dont know wot my graphics card is.. i just play the games on my comp i hav 2 read info.. the links didnt hav anyfin about the game not launching, the set launch options -dxlevel 90 and others didnt work either..i do not understand what the problem is.. " You can also try forcing the resolution using the -width XXX and -height XXX parameters behind your shortcut. (Ex. -width 640 -height -480) " . i hav no idea wot u just sed..

Well, you know shortcuts right? Right-click on one and select 'properties'.
Make sure you're in the 'Shortcut' tab, and look at the input box named 'Target'.

Behind all that gibberish that's in the box, you can put parameters.

You've got various parameters for Half-Life 2, like -novideo, which starts the game without running the intro videos, and many more. you can also use use -width and -height parameters to force the game in that resolution (the 'largeness' you start the game in Bigger means better, but may also make the game slower).

A few resolutions:
WIDTH & HEIGHT
640 X 480
800 X 600
1024 X 768
1152 X 864
1280 X 960 (This one is quite large, and your monitor may not be able to handle it)

You've got larger ones, too.

Steam also uses parameters to start games. For example, "-applaunch 220" will start Half-Life 2 when set behind the Steam.exe path. Other game parameters:
-applaunch 240 (Counter-Strike : Source)
-applaunch 320 (Half-Life 2 : Deathmatch)
-applaunch 300 (Day Of Defeat : Source)

Now, an example of how to put parameters behind a shortcut:
TARGET:
What follows is an example of what may be in the box

"C:\Valve\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 220

This will start Half-Life 2 (The path to the .exe file may differ).
Now, we can add parameters by simply adding a space and putting in the new parameter(s):

"C:\Valve\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 220 -width 640 -height 480

Got it? :p

it say this for cs source.. "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 240

Yes, well, you just put -width 800 -height 600 behind that.

Like this:

"C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 240 -width 800 -height 600

You can also try out other resolutions.

oii i think i found my graphics card look .. " Graphics Card information " Processor: GeForce FX 5600

A GeForce FX 5600 is good enough.

Have you downloaded the newest drivers?
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
Go to that webpage.
Then select "Graphic Driver" from the list.
Then select "GeForce and TNT2" from the second list.
And finally, select your operating system (Example : Windows Xp or Windows 2000) from the third list.
Now click on the "Go!" button below.

Now download the drivers, and follow the instructions after you have downloaded it and ran it.
