STEAM PROBLEM! nooooo, plz help

right, its not getting into my steam...

i sign on and click the icon and it says steam is already running, and it clearly isnt. so i go into processes and end the steam.exe file myself and click on the steam icon once again. but nothing happens.... and its like a vicious loop... i want to play cs and dod again . here are some screens:

and sometimes it thinks im offline when im not.. its VERY strange...

did you try rebooting?

if you did and it didn't work... I'd say backup the GCFs and then reinstall steam.

go to the steam directory, SteamApps/yourusername/

back up all the .gcf files somewhere, since thats the game content, then reinstall steam.

ennui, i went into steamApps and there was nothing in there?
do you know where i can find these gcf files?

carnage, it does put me off from time 2 time :E
