STEAM question

Hi all, I'm new here!

Quick question, if I've got my HL2 box and manual (with CD-key) but have lost the actual disc can I just go ahead and download steam, and download half life without the CD?

As long as you have the CD key, yes. You can register your key with Steam and get the games.

Err - actually, if you have HL2 and have installed it before (I assume you have because no-one loses a disk BEFORE they have ever installed it at least once), you would have already tied your CD key to an account. So what you need is your ACCOUNT name and password, and Steam will apparently take care of the rest. You DO have a Steam account, right?...
