Steamgifts.com thread time!

Steamgifts.com is a site where you can enter giveaways for Steam games. There's always a huge amount of active giveaways, but the amount of entries is also massive. You can't enter all of the giveaways, they've got a clever system to control the amount. Whenever somebody creates a giveaway, each account gains points (around 20% of the game's cost I think?). Entering a giveaway costs the USD price of the game in points so you have to pick games that you're interested in. If you win, you get emailed the gift code etc.

The site is invite based. You need to have x dollars worth of games on your Steam account and get an invite code. Every member can create invite codes for a price of points (seems to vary, 81 atm).

I just created 3 gift codes to share with HL2.netters. Add me to your Steam friends or just ask me if I'm there already and you'll get one. I'm going to go to bed right now so I'll give them away tomorrow. Don't know if I'll find out who were the fastest to add me though if there are more than 3.

Oh, and you can create private giveaways that you can enter via a link. How 'bout some sweet HL2.net giveaways if we get some accounts up?

Added you. I'm mainly curious to see more on how this works, since:

Your account has been verified, with 146 games, valued at $1,859.10

So I probably have most games that are being given away.

God the chances of winning are so slim I only participate in private raffles hosted on /v/. I have enough points right now to invite like 4-5 people.
Oh wow invite codes are 80 each today, jeez.

Some guy messaged me the other day about trading my Bill's Hat for a game, which made me realise... there's literally nothing on Steam I still want, excluding some upcoming releases. The only game I have left on my wishlist in Bejeweled 3, and I can't even imagine playing that to any great extent, I mostly had it in mind as an occasional time killer but that's not really worth $20 to me.

I did it. I won the Steam.

I don't know what your game list looks like, but I'm assuming you didn't "win steam" you just lost the ability to find good games out there.

Also I have no god damn clue what any of this is. I'm going to investigate it tomorrow most likely.

Edit: Well I guess I need an invite code to investigate...

If you want an invite, bug me on steam.

Still waiting for Riomhaire, Krynn and a fella named Red to show up on Steam. :)

edit: Oh, Riom got his code from Ace so I have 1 free. Just ask.

Your account has been verified, with 908 games, valued at $11,582.81.

I'll post one code here. There's one thing, though...

mh6d6849a7**05rhnques5yp8lkkm06wbqtt399o

The two *s are both letters (A-Z) you need to figure out. I'll give you one hint: GO
Too easy.

I love how 99% of the games being given away seem to be Potato sack or Humble Bundle related. The Humble Bundle 2 is being given away a lot (including by me) because of so many people getting a second copy with the Humble Bundle 3. Many games are Potato sack games that people evidently had before buying the pack and Cogs is really common due to being both a Potato sack game and a Humble Bundle 3 game. The rest are mostly extra copies (people who pre-ordered Portal 2 and got an extra copy of Portal etc).

I keep entering give aways for Bastion.

Thanks Edeslash! I don't realy know what I'm doing here exactly. I'm guessing I have a certain number of points that I can use to enter these things and I get more by giving away stuff?

Every time anyone creates a giveaway every single other account gains points. I don't know the exact value but it's related to the value of the game in the giveaway. And entering giveaways requires points.

What's the incentive to give things away then? Just to be a hero?

Edit: This site is undoubtedly spreading HL2 to tons of people that were previously not aware or didn't care about it.

Yeah, it's for the kinda people who enjoy gifting.

Same with the site in my signature.
Only that's for TF2 items. The good raffles on there are all private, though.

Then again, it's the same for steamgifts.

I suppose I could offload my HL2 stuff from orange box...

I just hope someone doesn't get it just to trade it off... if you can even do that with gifts you've received... though I assume you can.

I was making some invite codes but now the website gives a 500 Internal Server Error. Hurray!

I am gonna be honest... I was addicted as hell to Bejeweled 3 for a while. It has great music, tons of game modes, lots of replayability... as far as puzzle games go (and as far as Bejeweled variants go) there is no better bang for your buck :D $20 is a bit steep though.

Batch-of-invites time! For more fun, there's super simple math!

No, I'm not bored.

Thanks, I took the first key in case anyone is wondering why it doesn't work.
