****SUPER SPOILER WARNING****

i've noticed a few threads asking how to finish the last level, i.e. how to prevent breen from escaping. i've decided to set things straight for all you n00bs who are having problems and also for all the fan-boys who think they've figured it out already. i'll attempt to point your simple minds in the right direction without spoiling it all for you. here we go.

you'll have to use the gravity gun and physics engine to build an inverse interdimensional time portal to counteract breen's. in order to do this you'll need to have gathered equipment from throughout the citadel. the pieces are contained within well-hidden areas, such as behind one of the monitors that breen talks to you on.

now, finding the areas is one thing, but in order to even see the equipment, you'll need the experimental x-ray flashlight that was under the ground of nova prospekt. if you haven't done so yet, you have to find the right spot to throw the bugbait so that an antlion digs a tunnel for you to get to the secret testing area and grab the flashlight before the tunnel collapses and you're trapped down there.

also, i'm assuming you found the pieces in kleiner's lab and black mesa east for the portal? there were six in each of those areas that you were supposed to have collected and saved. if you don't have the parts from kleiner's lab you have to restart from there. i'll give you a hint: lamarr and dog are both involved.

once you have all that ready you will require a print out of the rough plans for this IITP (inverse interdimensional time portal) to guide you through its creation. these can be found inside g-man's briefcase in half-life 1.

the plans are incomplete, so you will have to do some major improvizing through trial and error testing on the spot. i recommend using the combine soldiers as unwilling subjects. keep in mind that you are under a time constraint, with breen rising up in his little bubble and all.

now there is a way to beat the game without doing this, but that is child's play and doesn't give you the real ending. the real ending... well, let's just say your hour will come again very soon.

if you've already "beaten" the game and actually thought it was that easy and the game ended just like that, you are pretty naive. this is valve we're talking about.

good luck.

ADMINS: you have my permission to make this guide a sticky.

"ADMINS: you have my permission to make this guide a sticky"

Haha, that cracked me. No seriously, well done...now cut back on the caffiene!

Finally a decent guide to the proper ending. So many noobs are content with the mediocre ending but it simply cannot compare!

good work!

I want to see the real ending but that sounds like WAY too much work, I'm lazy. By the way, how in the hell did you, or whoever else, figure all that out?

I don't get what people don't get about the last level, big orb things, and a huge light in the middle, it's simple.

Please dont confuse them more... There is onely ONE ending.... Shooting the portal with an energy orb... Thats it...
