They completely ****ed up that information from us. Didn't Valve say they were thinking about making the Striders drivable vehicles for their own entertainment... or was it somebody asked if it was possible and they just said it was "an easy mod".

Yeh, didn't Valve say the Strider is a Combine vehicle? Cuz it resembles the Gunship, and THAT'S combine.

hey, i might be wrong, it might be that it can be on auto pilot, where its ai, or that the combine can controll it as they see fit, so they only let the combine in, so you'de have to kill it, getting rid of its ai and cameras, allowing you to get into it.

Wasn't the quote simply along the lines that they fiddled around with a driveable strider for fun, and someone said it could easily be redone in a mod? To me, that doesn't mean that the strider has a pilot...

If there would be a pilot, how should he control the thing. I think using joysticks for every leg would be very hard and there are also joints :O

Would it be possible in a mod to take a bipedal type robot about as tall as the strider and make it driveable while still having it respond realistically to physics?

I'm with Rupertvdb - who cares if he's new? The guy made a mistake of calling one enemy by the wrong name, it's not that much of a problem seeing as it was clarified so early on. If, over time, he proves himself to be incomprehensible then that's ok.
But personally don't think it's that stupid a post (the one that started that thread, that is) as there had indeed been some talk of the Strider being playable - not in the main game but just for fun/multiplayer. Whether this was merely something Valve was pissing about with or whether it would be a multiplayer "surprise" was unclear. It's a fantastic idea, it'd probably be hilarious fun. Not a stupid thread.

Thank you, Fred Estaire. In a fight between a giant Fred Estaire and a Strider, I think fred would win. He's by far the swifter mover. Although he didn't have a phallic machine gun... As far as I know.
