Stuck near beginning of Black Mesa East

Hi. I am totally stuck near the beginning of Black Mesa East, the same as the people in this thread: http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=54807
I do NOT have a warez copy of the game.

I didnt post there because I A) didnt want to hijack it and B) it didnt seem like it was resolved at all.

I have attached a pic of where Im stuck. It is where "Alyx" escorts you to the elevator, and the just stops. I have tried restoring to previous saves, moving as much as possible (you are locked in a small room), tried doing 'reset' in the console, I have even restarted the game from the beginning and worked back to the same spot, same problem.

I used no clipping to get to the bottom of the elevator, but cant seem to get the characters down there to do anything either.

Is there anything I can do? This is very disappointing

But anyway, what happens when you step into the elevator? You say Mossman (sp?) "just stops", do you mean she just stands still without a script to execute?

Yes - she says some dialog, calls the elevator, talks some more, then just stands there looking dumb. Standing on the elevator does nothing, nor does pushing either of the switches. Im not sure how 'scripts' run in the game but that sounds about right.

That's pretty retarded of the game!
Sounds like somehow the script isn't being loaded/executed. Try seeing the if the console shows any suspicious messages. If so you might want to consider reinstalling or something (I never had any of that myself, I'm not really sure if there's a real fix for it, though)

Hmmm I dont see anything out of the ordinary. I suppose I could reinstall but Im worried if I will have to go thu that retarded steam activation again. Waiting 6 hrs to play a game I paid for was NOT cool.

I think the only real solution if reinstalling doesn't work is to get in contact with Valve, seeing as you can't play the rest of the game without cheating and spoiling it for yourself.

You won't have to go thru that agen since u have alrede registered your copy of the game.

OK, lots of people have come across this problem, and contrary to popular belief that you have a pirated game, it's actually because the AI fails to continue.

In order to resolve this issue:
Follow Dr Mossman to the lift, and IMMEDIATELY after she finishes talking, perform a QUICKSAVE (F6). Once you restart from your quicksave you should find that she will walk into the lift.. follow her and continue gaming!!

there's been alot of this goin on, the ai aint doin what they sposed to be doin, try restarting the level, it should work.. it worked for me on chapter 12, after that, the "glitch" went away..
