Stuck! Please Help! (Spoiler?)

I'm at the stage where I've just gotten the blue gravity gun that can pull people as well as objects.

But I notice that I cannot jump! I thought it was a glitch, or something wrong with the game, but I tried loading a different saved game and I could jump just fine.
There is only one visible path, and that is to jump over a tiny gate onto a pavilion with a large energy beam in the middle of it. But I can't jump. And I tried setting gravity to 0 and nading myself onto the pavilion, but going that way just got me stuck in a dead end.
So I have no clue where to go. There are those energy sheild/walls blocking alternate paths as well, but I don't know how to disable them.

Any help would be GREAT!

If you are where I think you are, keep grabbing the Energy Orbs with your Grav Gun from the verticle beams along side and around/through the energy gates, fire them off (they can be used as weapons too) until the enegry field collapses and you can walk through. Use the orbs in many situations, you will have to get get good with them at the end.

it's a bug.. had exactly the same one. just load an old savegame and play again up to this point (or.. if the last save game where u still can jump is too far behind, just use "new game" -> "our benefactors"
this did it for me.

It should also be noted that some people used the Gravity gun to pull a monitor off of the wall and used it as a ramp to get over the railing.
