Stupid noob questions

I bought Oblivion today and I'm liking it so far, although it has yet to sink its claws into me like WoW did. I'm currently inside the portal at Kvatch. I have a stupid noob question...

How do I throw crap away? I'm over-carrying shit. How do I sell stuff? I have yet to run into any vendor... I looked in the manual but didn't find anything.

Bring up your inventory, click and hold on the icon of the item you want to drop, drag it up to the top of the screen.

okay, well where can I find vendors to sell to so I at least make money off of them? There werent any vendors in the walnut inn or the place with nuns.

Throw stuff away by using shift+click on it.

If your in that portal (That is exacly where I am) there is an ogre at the camp who sells/buys weapons/armour, and another girl who buys/sells potions.

There are merchants all over the place, remember that you there is a specific icon you need to click on (not a dialog line).

are there any merchants who buy your goods for their full value, i only seem to get half the value for my goods or is this just the way it is? do i haveto haggle? a noobs guide for haggling would be welcome...

Charm them first, with a spell or if your Imperial "Voice of the Emperor" and haggle up 10%. Mainly depends on your speechcraft/mercent skills though.

If your selling alot of stuff at once, try to bribe the buyer, it costs but if your able to haggle higher, you can still walk away with more money.

The first icon is as local area map which slowly expands as you find new areas but starts out covered by a "Fog of War" a la RTS games.

The second icon is a world map and used for fast travel. This will also show new ruins and buildings you find when exploring.

The third, fourth and fifth icons all show quests.

One shows the currently active quest, one shows all the current un-completed quests you have accepted and one shows all completed quests.

How far into that gate can you get? I can get to just before I enter the towers then I start getting my ass kicked. I guess I should level up and get better armor and weapons?

I have a noobish question. I'm new to the elder scrolls series. So far i've probably only played 7-8 hours. I'm a level 4 dark elf, warrior assasin. At present i'm using chainmail armour with a kvatch cuirass. I'm curious however as to where you can get hold of better items of armour, such as mithril, glass etc ? Is it possible to buy it in a shop somewhere ? e.g. in imperial city there are shops for pretty much everything, but the only armour you seem to be able to get hold of is leather, fur and steel. Is there somewhere in another city that you can buy other types ?
