Well, I just finished the game, and absolutely loved it. But one question remains.

Once everything is frozen and the G-Man comes into play, does this mean she dies? I am so confused, but can obviously tell there will indeed be a Half-Life 3, but what exactly is going on? I am so confused...G-Man is going to give you a new job? Alyx dies? City-17 all-gone?

The G-Man offers you a new job and puts you back to sleep or something until he needs you again. Nobody really knows what happens with the explosion so your going to have to wait for Half-Life3 to see what went on. I do think its just a minor explosion though. I dont think it will be that serious, atleast I hope. I DONT WANT ALYX TO DIE!!!!

Yea step in the "confused" line

I was confused most of the game about what the hell these people were talking about...

All i sorta gathered is that humanity is held in existence by breen and the citadel? Then i have no idea what the hell breen was talking about and ESPECIALLY confused about what the g-man said....

Unless the G-man took her with him, I dont see how she could survive.

Wow. Doesn't sound like Valve put the story across in an intelligible way at all. I thought story telling was supposed to be Valve's and Hal-Life 2's strong point.

yea they made it real hard to tunderstand whats going on.. what i do know is that the combine are related to the black mesa incedent in some way or another.. but how ??

All these rumours of G-man is gordan, alyx dies, Eli dies, etc etc

are all bollocks, NOTHING happens, all that I saw happen was ***Spoiler**Mossman worked for Breen then helped us out in the end****Spoiler****

I was hoping more would happen in the story, thought we would speak to G-man and he would explain whats going on to us and hopefully team up with us (Using the Blue grav gun for instance)

I heard there would be short episodes with Alyx and DOG released over steam which I something to look forward to.

I hope HL3 takes under 2 years before release.

Well look at it this way, there arnt many games that leave u thinking about the story for so long afterwards, and since when have u ever been worried about a charecter even after the game is finished! they have constructed an experience through other means, rather than a compacted movie script.

Im currently on my second play through, and theres alot of little things im starting to notice, (not obvious stuff), alot of it requires an imagination, but just being allowed to construct a story like that in my head, is a real treat for me.

I thought the ending was good. It really put to light that you're working for the gman. So, people hire you for missions eh?

You know what i really want to know though...

What the story is with those weird decrepit guys, with robot faces, skinny legs and cut off arms that you see in your ride through the citadel. Gee... makes me hate the combine :(

Oh and Didn't the citadel remind you of the factories in xen? Creating soldiers? Hmm something to think about :D

i think the whole point of the game was to be as vague as possible, this way it told enough of the story to keep you interested and confused at the same time. You wanna know why your doing this, wat the result of doing this will be and finally now it has done the ultimate and everyone who plays it wants to know so much what is going to happen in the final chapter of the half life trilogy. Its almost like a trilogy of films. I think valve have done such a good job because i dont think people have ever looked forward to a game before cus it continues the story. It is very much like the matrix that left everyone confused but everyone still loved it cus it was confusion on an intelectual level and on purpose not jus cus the story was crap. so before you say the story was crap and vague etc etc think about it first and think now was this done on purpose, you cant expect to be spoonfed all the info you have to think about it
jus my 2 pennies (im from england loll)

I thought/think the Brown guys with the metal faces and metal legs are the Combine soldiers without their kit on.
So it would seem that they are aliens! eeeeeeeee

You first see them in the Citadel so I assume they can walk around naked without the public seeing them

I think that g-man saw gordan was about to be blown up and killed so he stopped time just before the explosion and took gorden back to his "cell", i remember Breen telling Gordon that "he was open to the highest bidder" so i think he is kinda a mercanery being used by g-man to solve problems, i think this was kinda obvious though, i thought it was a great ending, it wasnt cheesy and it left it open to more sequels.

The whole sci-fi/x-files type of feeling to the game makes it even more good, i absolutly loved the sci-fi machinery concepts valve came up with, its what made the last level so good.

Do you think even Gabe knows the story? or is he making it up as he goes along with no real structure.

Its like a tv show, they got a main sort of plot and feel to the story going, and then left it open for more episodes later

No way is it a minor explosion. Did you here Breen say that if you stop the teleport the whole building will fall. and do you relize how big it is. Pretty much goes into space, that would distroy the world or have a chance at it.

Dunno how to do the spoiler tags so just be aware that theres spoilers coming.

Those aliens at the end were always under guard by a trooper in uniform so Im doubting thats what that they look like, prob. just another alien race the combine enslaved.

Breen discusing his escape with the Alien on the screen you hear him say something along the lines of he dosnt want to go there, to that place, he wont survive, he dosnt want to become a 'host'. its not all fresh in my mind atm but mabe humans used as hosts.

Those naked, sickly looking things in the citadel were actually "stalkers", which are actually humans that had all organs removed, and had their brains scrambled or something to make them into slaves. This is what the combine were doing in Nova Prospekt, and that's why you could see a stalker's head on the security camera on one of the Nova maps. In the eta-bay, there was actually an ap-may, where you could ight-fay the stalkers, but the odel-may was a lot different. :naughty:

Yeah i was thinking along those lines, but didn't make the stalker connection. Cool, now i have a complete picture. I figured they were creating combines, and those skinny guys were the first steps.

Yeah, I doubt the stalkers are actually combine. Remember, you see quite a few locked in the prisoner caskets.

I think combine soldiers are captured and/or brainwashed humans. Barney is obviously quite convincing as a CP.

i hope halflife 3 wont leave a cliffhanger at the end but explain what went on the past years with Gordon

What I want to know is what Breen kept on rambling about... doing stuff for the good of humanity etc... what stuff?! What the Hell is he doing? Then he just ends up going in his little bubble to escape to another universe and completely destroy everything in this universe. Ummm... okay...
