Synchronicity is hiring!

We're approaching a point in which the team will need to acquire some new blood.

Synchronicity is a modification for the HL2 EP2 version of the Source engine, focusing on cooperative, horror, and a degree of realism. The two players begin investigating the disappearance of fellow officers and quickly find themselves thrust into a battle against a force much larger than themselves.

Synchronicity is one of the few mods that's actually being headed up by a programmer, so most of the features have already been implemented. Some of the more simplistic features include things like iron sights, or an incap system. Voice acting also comes from the proper character locations, meaning that if your partner walks away while he's talking, his voice will also fade away. The more complex features include things like a completely different HUD/Health System, and new enemies. At the end of each map, you are even rated on how well you did investigating.

I hope you'll excuse us for not having exceedingly aesthetic screenshots, but the focus so far has been on getting these features working, so that when the time came for us to find a mapper, they could just dive in. Still, I'd be remiss if we didn't show anything.

Screenshot 1 shows "blood on the screen" which happens when you are wounded and quickly fades. It will appear darker the closer you are to death. It also displays how targeting the other player shows his health, as well as the iron sights system.

Screenshot 2 shows the toggle-able additional HUD features, including the Investigative rating system.

Screenshot 3 shows the Incap system. The ability to animate it is coded, but no animations for it exist yet (more on that later!)

For those that enjoy seeing how things come into being created, the project leader Alters has been keeping a blog for many of the features mentioned here (and others not, such as the inventory or the realistic clip system).

As for the positions we're actually hiring for, we're looking primarily for two things right now.

The first is an animator. You must be able to work with full skeletons and animate models from scratch. It would be great if you could rig, but you don't have to be able to.

The second is a level designer/mapper. You should know how to do entity work and colour correction, and be able to fully create a map from start to finish. Being creative with puzzles and cooperative gameplay is also very important.

Naturally you should have some previous work to demonstrate if you're interested in coming on board. Please feel free to post here, or email me at [email protected] / [email protected].

Thanks!
