Divine_Illusions, halflife2.net's Moderators are among the best on the net. I have been to and participated in many forums over the last 5 years and have not yet found any mods that even come close to the ones right here. Don't make stupid statements and then get mad when you're shut down. If you read the previous posts by the Mods, you would have noticed that they were trying to help you, trying to push you in the right direction. You obviously don't understand that they are not attacking you..

All I'm going to add to this is why oh why do people ask for help with unfinished sites or no firm details? I'm no thaving a go here it simply smacks of .... not amateurish but ... it's not being realistic? I don't know there is a phrase for it but if you have ever worked in a business that requires some form of marketing or if you've ever tried to pitch an idea to a boss they all want one thing and thats substance.

What really gets my goat is things like this , make bold claims , which are fine , this that and the other which is fine but there is no substance to it. For a mod team I'd let this ride but it seems to be aimed at creating a more .. "professional" type of thing and having a "25% website" and the rest simply won't cut it.

In all sincerity best of luck but I seriously advise you for the future if you ever pitch anything to someone that may give you money or resources do it better than this. There are two maybe three mods in the past that have seriously impressed me simply by having everything in place before they get to this stage.

It's all well and good saying your site is not finished and being revamped , but just think whats more and impressive and what's likely to get a talented individual with actual skill and experience a partially completed site , some unconfirmed details or a finished site replete with details and full concept, proper staff listing etc etc etc

One will make a prospective member/ investor say meh the other will make them go wow! Let's fidn out more about these guys.

/me strokes his chib and glances at hotsoup
if you could promise me weekly pay i'd do it, regardless of its flaws. sure anyone here will tell you i'm a whore :) but you cant, so i wont, and i dont think arguing in this thread is going to help you. so, just be quiet and hope someone responds to your request, or it gets closed :x

i think that fenric and pi have been pretty belligerant and actually pretty condescending. but who would blame them, its like trying to pound a wooden nail through concrete.

hay what if the nail is made of laser fiber glass that has been inplanetd into a nailgun wich shootrs out nail faster than the speed of light?

Frankly, I wouldn't join a company when the only information given is:
-The only (quarter) game they have takes place in a town & there are vehicles for allies and enemies (wow).
-A publisher may like it.

What's the pay?
What's the concept? The simple idea of 'teams' isn't enough.
Where's some of this 25% finished game?
Surely you have at least one screenshot? One model? Concept art even?

Pardon my frankness, but this really does come across as a 'divine illusion.' And it'll seem that way until more details are given.
Now, I don't want to see your project fail, but everyone has a point. There aren't enough specifics here to apply for, let alone move to Scotland for.

And, from what I've seen, this is currently just a mod. Until your enigmatic publisher agrees to fund you, in any case.

well, if they arent writing their own engine, arent they really just making a modification of the souce engine to fit their needs for a game that sounds just like redident evil (as stated before). I mean, im 14 years old, and even I can tell you that you dont sound professional. If your asking for people who commit to you, you must have something to show, or else they wont.

Take Hockey Tryouts (yeah im canadian). Most kids wont commit to a team whos coach says "We'll be really good". And still, not every person would commit to the team that says "We'll have jackets, go on 3 tournaments and an away tournament, get out own bags, and we'll do very well." You have to show something, its like fishing, you arent gunna catch anything if you dont have a hook, and you sir have no hook.

Is the game industry really this lacking in modesty, realistic approaches and manners? If so, I think I'll throw out my computer right now. :)

Seeing Divine_Illusions response, I'm really doubting this whole thing.....

Anyways, I just dunno about this whole thing, both sides seem to need soem cooling down.

Don't worry, I agree with you on everything else.

No offense, but you're crazy to think that something without its own engine is a modification. Vampires will use Source, is that a mod? Dozens of games have used the Unreal engine. They hardly look like Unreal! Those certainly aren't mods. You might get away with saying 'Exteme Total Conversions".

does ricochete look like half-life? :p
Yeah, I was wrong, it was late, and I was tired. :)

email [email protected] with more details and i'll think about it. will be busy when hl2 comes, will require money, will work from home; glasgow smells. Tom Duncan and Callum Grant, those names sound familiar. They from around the elgin area? :)

sorry if im bringing up an old topic

but yes, callum grant is from elgin, he is my bro, and through a google search i found this, (i was checking out whether he had any blue man reviews out, he is one you see)

where are yuo from, i may know you

As a new starting company i can ensure you that NO publisher would EVER fund you without some proof of what you can do. To start up a game company you will have to fund the first title or two yourself and from then you might awaken the publishers attention.

Otherwise it would be like a random boy comes up to you and says if you give me 200$ i can make a pair of shoes and sell them for 600$!!
How much would you trust him?

How very retro is this thread. Man, I miss Onions, he was a God-damn hero.

ah, so he doesnt go on this site anymore?

oh well, if any of you had his msn or anything, it would be magicly appreaciated
