TF2 won't open

Im not sure if this is the right forum to put this in but...

When I click on my tf2 icon (already installed), it says the normal "now opening team fortress 2" or whatever, my computer thinks normally, then it goes black like it is loading the screen. However, it then goes right back to my desktop screen and stops thinking.

Any ideas beyond reinstalling? I really want to play now, its so addicting, I cant take a break!!!!! Help please.

Have you tried verifying the Cache for the game?

I dont know what that means, and I just re-installed it. Still didnt work, it just goes black for a split second then goes to my desktop. I dont know what else to do.

And also, this only happened after the update.

Have you tried different video drivers? And verifying cache...

In your game list menu, is CS Source on 100%? I assume you have it fully updated. Also verify the game files.

1. Load Steam
2. From the My Games tab, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
3. Select the Local files tab and click the Verify integrity of game cache... button.
4. Steam will verify the game cache files (GCF's) - this process may take several minutes. Do not verify the cache files for multiple games simultaneously - as some games share cache files with other games, this may cause problems with verification.
5. Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.
