Got some inspiration from another thread here.

The graphics today are pretty accurate and realistic. How will it look like in, lets say 50 years? Will the industry touch the roof, where it's simply impossible to improve games? Is the AI system perfected? Do monsters act like we think monsters will react, and will humans react like humans?

Feel free to add more questions and come with theories and answers to mine.

yer ive thought about that, but im thinking. like the next FIVE years!

look at 1999 compared to now!!

In 50 years we will have sentinent computer programs generating near perfect games at the rate of 1 a day.

in 50 years time i will be able to hit people i dont like over the internet... somehow... ill be an old whiney person by then.....:|

I'd say some of us here wont be alive in 50 years, sorry for bringing it up :)

Then 10 years. Neptune is right, games have changed drastically from the time of HL1. I'm pissing my pants of enjoyment just thinking on how it will be in 2015.

Hah well you can only make it so good on the computer monitor and keyboard. You can make it look identical to real life. That wont be too long and to be honest I dont like it. I prefere to know the difference between real life and a game. We should have cheap, realistic VR in around 20-25 years :D think of that. Make me want to do the timewarp again :p

Heh, Imagine a matrix-style machine thingee your plugged into, and as far as you know - your in the game. Every game would be amazing, but then again - shoot 'em ups would be so different it would be unbelievable - I mean there would be fear in everyone (probably) because why you know you can't die physically, everything around you would be so real (such as people getting shot to pieces) you'd be shitting a brick when fired at.

Heh, one day games will become so advanced really that, what would be the point in life? Not happy with your life? Have a new shiny life on VR.

Perhaps we shouldnt advance further then... It doesnt sound good to me.

Yes, that is a scary thought indeed though. A day when the human race packs up it's bags and lives in fantasy world of VR with no suffering or pain. Dodgy lol.

perhaps if they did Vr with half life 1 graphics so we could determine that it was not real

In ten years computer games will playthemselves!

Actually that would be kinda cool... imagine an AI controlled movie where that looked photo realistic but was different every time.

I see that coming, would not be shocked if an entire industry for that would grow.

Eh, once games are photo realistic, its down to us games designers to make things interesting :D

In 50 years, nano technology will be perfected that Radeon x800xt will be mass-produced at $2 a piece

A game-matrix would be cool... but nothing I would implent something into my body for :| a pity...

...and then it will be hard for normal people to make mods.

Radeon x800xt will be considered a crap videocard by then.

i hope they make a massive multiplayer game with alot of detail.

The Internet will be like it is in Futurama. Where we plug in and walk around all the shops etc.

Here is a picture from a 1954 issue of Popular Mechanics. This is what they thought today's PC would look like. Unreal.

So whatever you imagine from a PC in fifty years, you won't even be close to how small and powerful it will be.

Cool :D. We are probably going to be alive at the best time, id imagine it will go downhill after that :) I feel so lucky

I dont think teher will be computers. SOmeting else will replace.

well how do you define "computer" an electronic device that can compute things, therfore computers should be around for ages. Home Pcs will no longer exist, virtual reality would exist not only for games but also for word processing, communication, online shopping...everything :D.

i think that we will have the same old computers with a few minor differences ... peripherals will not take physical form but wil be devices that track the movement of a stylus or a glove .
you will be able to work and organize data in 3d. windows might be the sides of cubes that can be rotated. the monitor might be replaced by a holographic projector.
the changes with the greatest impact will be the internet and storage systems as they will refine a new method of optic lines which is already in the making and our connection rates will be in gigabytes like the stuff the military and government use.
as for storage the giga byte will be outdated we will have 1 and 2 gb floppies and hadrobyte cds which will help store the 3d information as the operating systems for the holographic projections willl take quite a bit of space.
give it 3 more years and it will come in a nice shiny box to ur doorstep
wait an additional 3 months for the processors that process at the speed of light .
