The daddy of strategy...

Hmm, interesting.

I wonder if it will be any different than all the others. ;)

Technically that should be the daddy of real time strategy.
But still... interesting. Anyone know if they're still going to call it Tiberian Twilight or something along those lines?

Or maybe it's just the sequel to C&C: Generals Zero Hour...

That wouldn't be good.

If it is Tiberian Twilight...EA better not screw it up.

errr, no. because then it wouldnt be called C+C 3...

i play zero hour LOADS online. its so fun. i have 36/6, but this is like my 4th zero hour account, and probally my 8th generals account. zero hour can be very frustrating though, as it unbalances the sublime generals.

EA had a chance to make the generals equel with the release of Zero Hour, but I think they missed it. They made USA even better, and just improved China and GLA a bit, but not enough to make a USA VS. GLA macth fair. Death over Aroura!

It is hard to see anything from that picture, BUT I would like a sequel to Tiberian Sun, that was fuuuuun. Hope they will make the local area network play with more than 4 players less unstable.

actually zero hour was just so unbalanced anyway. the 9 generals make it impossible for a well balanced game... in the origonal, there must have been an update every week or something, on zero hour there has been one. theyre not even gonna bother to try and make it balanced.

for instance, i play regularly with my mate dancemag, but last time we played we were both GLA demolition gen versus USA laser gen and china nuke gen.

Its a no rush game, so we bothset up defences and a thriving economy. 10 minutes into the game and both sides have enough money gatheres they could possibly need. together, me and my ally had about 30 - 40 black markets. We built up a huge army of fast but weak technicals (vans) and quad cannons (air defence), then bought the upgrade for all our units to detonate when they die, meaning all of the units are potential suicide bombers.

So we attack, and decimate the guys defences and a whole chunk of his base by parking those technicals right infront of his defences and watching them light up like fireworks, along with his static defense. once we had taken out a whole chunk of his base we had run out of veichles... and china had brought reinforcements, so we had to retreat.

long story short, this happened over and over, and these guys had so much defence in their base, sneak attacks and rebel ambushes were impossible. so with GLA having no air, it was impossible for us to win and both sides had reached a stalemate, as neither could breach the others armies / defences. and so we quit, deciding not to waste any more time.

had the armies been balanced, there would have been a way for us to win...

but meh, its practically impossible to balance a game like that anyway. mabe if EA had added very little new units and added a couple more foundation armies, like maybe the british or the russians, it would have been a better expansion pack.

btw... does anyone ever read any of these long posts i write, or do they just say "meh, suicides written a long post again... im NOT reading thatt.. it'll take me ages!"

:(

I hope the MP is better than CCG.

The non-expansion Generals is by far the best RTS multiplayer game I have ever played also.

The daddy of Real time strategy was released by Cavedog and was called Total Annihilation.

I have the game but I haven't played it in so long lol.

CC 2 was the Tiberian Sun games.

There are in essence three universes in the Command and Conquer series:

1) the original and Tiberian Sun universe featuring the GDI and Nod
2) the Red Alert universe
3) the Generals universe

This one would appear to be based on the Tiberian Sun universe.

I loved that game.... there is a sequal in the works as well apparently... :)

Tiberian Sun and its Expansion Firestorm were the win.

didn't EA confirmed it some months ago ?

Dunno, but I would like it to return to the original storyline ( that begun with RE, continued with TS and then suffered a spin-off in RE2)

I actually never played any of the original storyline games, but I've read the C&C canon and it seems great.

Tiberium Sun was so fun when it came out. I just got a new computer (500MHz woo woo!) when it came out and it ran so fast! My friends and I would play each other and it was always different each time. It was good fun for quite a while. WATCH OUT A MAMMOTH MARK II!

Hehe....those games are from two storylines. Red Alert and Tiberian Sun have absolutely zero to do with each other, and then Red Alert 2 isn't a spinoff, but a continuation of the Red Alert story.

It was crap on rough terrain though lol. If it went down into a ditch and tryed to fire at an enemy just above it it would hit the bank and end up getting owned by rocket infantry :/

Cyborg Commando was the real power.

Haha...The Mammoth Mark 2 was useless. Give me back the old tanks any day(Having said that...I combination of the new technology and old in the game would haev been fantastic. Thats why i modified the rule sini so much that you could have lots of different tanks as well as the new stuff.). Tiberian Sun was a great game but its lack of tanks and certain other features, which for the life of me i can't put into words, it really didn't do it for me like Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert....or Even Red Alert 2 which was quite frankly a game that had gone through the commity just one to many times.

Cyborg Commandos were cool...Although it was nasty in multiplayer games when you forgot to pave and they came up in a drilling vehicle in the middle of your base.

I remember in Singel Player, those wild animals that was infected with Tiberian was insanely hard to kill. Cyborg Commandos? Wasn't that guy who shot a green plasma ball? Oblisk of ligt (sp?), that owned max! :P I still think that the "wave" tanks were nice...

And just for the record, not even a little chinish girl with nukes, partical cannon and scud storm can match the extreme badguy, Kane! (Btw, iron cannon - partical cannon?)

Cyborg Commando was the real power.

I always used a helicopter to carry it.

I thought the MP for generals was horrible. Really a let down after a fun single player game.

There are a bunch of mods that make MP fun though.

Best MP for a RTS would have to be Total Anhilation in my opinion.

I thought the wave tanks were a nice conept but weren't implemented that well.

In fact in all teh conept pictures i saw for them, it wasnt a small wavy blue beem that slowly moved out, it was a wide "ribbon" type shockwave that fired out and destroyed everything in its path...now that looked cool.

MP for Zerho Hour is pretty fun, due to the new generals (That were supposed to be in the original anyway...) and new units that are added. Also, there are a few maps which show potential, the one that stands out is practically from Starcraft. Its called "Art of Defense", there are several version but basically you defend a castle or central building of some sort against wave after wave of computer controlled units. The units generally get more advanced and more frequent as time moves on. Some maps you just have to survive full stop until a timer runs out. Anyway, if people latch onto it, there is a lot that can be done with the scripts in Generals. Its relatively simple to use and lets you do anything you see in singleplayer.

TA was a great game though :) MP was basically it, not quite as bas as BF1942 but almost there.

Did you try TA:Kings? That was pretty fun as well...but did lack in some places.

you say it is horrible yet you dont say why. seeing as it is better than most other RTS;s i own (which is a lot) im wondering what you disliek about it. ill list the good and bad IMO:

good
> great scoring system. allows players to see how good you are, and it is also motivation to win... your reward is respect from other players.
> support for up to 8 players at once, which means that you can have huge battles.
> loads of armies means loads of strategies... 2v2s and 3v3s can become real battles of tactics, with allies backing each other up and helping in the offense.
> the game is so popular and there are allways tons of games, i play 2v2s regularly and the 2v2 room has about 30 games each time.
> you can have no record stat games, and select how much starting money there is as well as whether to limit superweapons.
> the game is just so damn ****ing good in the first place!!!

bad
> you cant give rescources to allies
> there are some disconnecting problems, but not many
> the armies are slightly unbalanced, meaning tactics are everything

Yes! Yes! Omg Yesssss!

They Better Not F*ck It Up Like Generals Dammit!

All the good things you listed are no differant than most other RTS games.

(I havent played Generals in quite a while so its hard to be specific, sorry about that....i just remember that MP wasnt much fun for me)

And I wouldnt necessarily call unbalanced/differant armies a "bad" thing. I dont enjoy most "red vs blue" type games.

@Sparrow. For some reason I have never played kingdoms....I dont know why :rolling: . I guess i was always to busy with other games.

Kingdoms...Of course, i knew i had the name wrong. Its a really fun game, but having said that you won't be better off for playing it if you know what i mean.

As for the balancing thing with Generals...

It depends on what you mean by balanced really. I mean, a side can simply be worse than another because its units aren't as good...or it can just be a little more difficult because its made for more advanced players. The side may be as good or better but be a bit more in depth. Then it could always be that they are different....Perfectly balanced and might as well be identical but look different, like TA really.

Red Alert was the best, it is the reason I am gaming. I picked it up at Good Will and fell in love with it.

Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge were the best. Now since EA took over, I haven't been impressed with that new games. I truly hope they don't mess it up.

EA took over a while after Red Alert...the games really lost it after that. They were fun but they just weren't Command and Conquer anymore.

Tiberian Sun/Firestorm was addicting.. Girlfriend broke up with me because she always called me while I was in the middle of a game and I said "hold on one second" .. I don't remember about the phone until 15 minutes later ;/
