The End of Garrysmod?

Uh-oh.

Probably around 6-7 this morning we had a lightning storm.

Round about 10 I turned on my big computer. Nothing. I mean nothing at all. So I replaced the PSU with an old on I had laying around.

At last it started up - but it stopped after the POST with "insert disk".

Now I'm not stupid about computers - I knew that meant it wasn't detecting the hard drive. So I took it out and put it in my other computer..

Earlier on I phoned my friend who builds computers and he predicted that the lightning had fried the hard drive. I hope this isn't the case so I'm going to take it to him to see if he can recover anything or fix it - which he has done in the past.

Doh! You know what it means if he can't fix it? Version 6, Version 5, all the source code - it's all gone! Aghhhhhh!!

I can't believe he didn't back it up or have a ups.

It's not too big of a loss for me though, it was fun for awhile, but got boring for me.

Especially considering the "One Touch Maxtors" etc. are cheap (press a button instantly backs up a drive), if the copy-paste is too much trouble for some. :upstare:

Anyways, it's a good reason to leave the source code in the hands of those whom you can trust.

OK I just took the drive to my friend. He said I could get it back tommorrow.

He asked me how old the drive was and I said about 2 years. He think it probably wasn't the lightning since none of my other computers were harmed.

I wish it was a joke - I think we've established that it probably wasn't the lightning now though.

Seems like Garry should have his mod back soon enough :cheers:

Garrys mod does get boring after a while though. Although the proposed "Face Poser" sounded cool in the newest build.
