more information will be given to who ever joins our mod

we are currently looking for 1 extra coder must know C++ and hl2
2 or 3 mappers you must know hl2 mapping program, you must show some of your previous work.

oh and most important the sound guy.

My msn = [email protected]
regular mail = [email protected]

hope to be hearing from you guys soon

Before many see this, edit for spelling and punctuation...Take out Legend of Zelda reference and give a better picture of what people are working towards and what the mod is about...

For your own good really...believe me...

people cant be original anymore...thats a good one realy.
when nintendo makes a zelda game everyone is psyched about it i mean how many zelda games are out the? 7 ? and they 8th one is coming soon.
all that is still in here from the original zelda games are link zelda and gannon
we create everything including the characters ourself and with our own design we recreate EVERYTHING we make new locations and our OWN story.
because this game still actualy holds the basics of the zelda game it isnt original...bullshit man atleast come at me with serioous arguments

Look here, in order of apperance:

Re-designing and recreating everything from Zelda doesn't mean you're being original or contributing to originality. How about this? Don't base your game on Zelda at all. You don't own rights to it, and it wasn't your idea. Thus, you really can't be original.

People enjoy making mods because it is something of their own. They made it. They did not look at someone elses work and say, "Oh Link will look cooler with black hair and brown trousers!" Create something of your own, and if you don't... chances are you won't get any support from these forums.

Also, please for the love of god revise your original post's spelling. What the hell does "aprechiate" and "titel" mean? Also, you mention HL2's mapping program? Why didn't you just ask for people that knew Hammer... or maybe you really didn't know what the program was named? Well that's enough from me. I'm sure someone else will come at you with another "serioous" argument.

source is not the best engine to be doing a Zelda-esque RPG, Zelda is all about exploring wide open levels, source is designed for showcasing narrow linear paths
you might want to reconsider - either find a better engine or spend the next few months making great textures, props and characters and then port them into the U3 or Crysis engine

ok then what engine would you concider to be good for a zelda like mod

How about the Wii? Also the NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube. As well as the Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, and the DS.

I'm loving how you are justifying stealing IP by saying that Nintendo has released lots of Zelda games, too. Hahaha. Man.

link and his family live on a farm
were local gang is suppressing them and other towns folk
one day the come to links house and his father doesnt want to pay
(you see only the lower part of the face of gannon) it would be foolish to not to give'it'to me,.. you got a family to worry about*grins*
my family can take care ofthemselves *draws his sword*
he lounges at gannondorf he deflects it and kills him instintly
I love my guitar yes peple its true dear gitarro whatever would i do without you zegt:
link hears his father scream and when he runs to the house his father shouts at him "father gives link something and tells him to run (father dies)*
so link go's away and comes back at night to find his father mother and sister dead
he takes them out and burrys them
when he is going to take the weapons he gets a vision of things yet to come.
and has a sence of telling him were to go this is how our story starts....

i didnt see this in the other zelda games before ( well his uncle got killed in link to the past but that doesnt cut it for me).

You find your uncle recovered at the end of the game. :)

ah dont know i never realy played the game till the end got bored in the otherworld :P

considering you got bored and didn't finish what is considered to be the best Zelda game ever, do you think you're really dedicated enough to make a PC port?

Was about to say the same thing...

so because other people say its the best zelda game ever I got to like it because OTHER POEPLE like it...tbh i rather play games I like witch I think that are good.
for me the best zelda game ever made is ocarina of time not the snes game and i beat every game i ever played except for some.
so me nolonger liking a game and dont see the use of playing anymore makes have a lack of dedication ? yeah right...

Well, the fact that you didn't beat one of the games isn't really the determining factor in why I think you shouldn't, won't, and cannot make this mod.

I think its more because:
1. You don't know very much about making mods, obviously
2. Your talent is modelling, yet you are taking an modding as if its just a step higher :upstare:
3. Your premise for the plot of this mod is vague, generic, and just like every Zelda game that already exists
4. You are stealing Intellectual Property from the creators of the Zelda games
5. You make no mention, nor do you seem to have any idea, how you are going to incorporate any gameplay into this mod at all.
6. Just to stress #5, which is the most important of them all, you have no idea whatsoever about anything in this mod other than some Link model you made. It takes so much more work than that, buddy, especially for the sort of mod that you are thinking of.

Just drop the project. No one wants to play some Zelda mod, hell, I don't even know how it would work on the Half life 2 engine. It's obvious that you don't know very much about modding, so why not just join an existing team? That way you will know exactly what to expect when you make a mod yourself. (And that it is MUCH more work and planning and just basically knowing what you are doing then you seem to think)

lol dont talk like you know me man.
1. no i dont i only took basic game design in my school lol and i was in a couple of mods before
2. why cant a modeler make a mod with a team ?
3.in no zelda game did his parents get killed because he never had parents in ANY zelda game.
4. yeah im stealing listen you dont know NOTHING about this mod whats next because im using the hl2 engine im stealing property from steam ?
5. why would i mention how the gameplay is we are in such an early state of the game that everything could still change so im not going to make prommeses that i might regret later on.
6. i dont know anything about this mod? woah funny realy ? i know it takes ****ing work thats why i started this because i like working on mods

the reason i dont join existing mods because i dont like to join something i dont like and were some so called kid who calles himself the leader of the mod hes talking like he owns the entire team so no thx.

the mod team we have are all friends and have worked together on many occasions

I'm not talking like I know you, I'm talking with the information that you've provided me with. If you are holding back on a 20 page design document for this mod, I would both be confused why you had done this and admit that I am in the wrong. But that's not the case, is it?

1. You must not have learned anything about making a good mod idea in your class or in any of these other mods which you've been a part of.
2. I never said that, I just said that modding is a much much much more complicated task than just using your modelling abilities
3. SNES: His uncle was killed. I always thought it was his father, but whatever. It doesn't matter anyway, the plot is vague and generic and has nothing to do with how you are going to go about making this game
4. You are going to deny that you are stealing IP from the people who copyrighted and own the Zelda title? They made the games, and now you are stealing their characters and their premise to make your own game. If you do this, you will be a theif. And this is all going without mentioning how generic and lame the idea itself is. No one is going to want to play some fanmade Zelda on a
5. Wow, just wow dude, you've really clarified how clueless you are. Before you go out looking for mappers and "important sound guys" you need to know WHAT THE HELL YOU ARE DOING FIRST. No one is going to want to join up with yet another generic mod based on some overdone series, but especially not if they have no idea how they are going to go about doing it
6. Well, how about you DO some work on it and then SHOW US what this mod is going to be about other than a few poorly written typo-filled lines of generic plot text. While your at it, why don't you just DROP the whole Zelda thing because you are STEALING it from the creators and owners of the Zelda franchise.

I like the reason that you don't join mods with annoying kids, because that is exactly what you are doing. You join a mod you like because it has a good idea and a good team. If you want to start up your own mod, it better have a damn better plot than "ANOTHER ZELDA GAME! THIS TIME GANON KILLS HIS PARENTS!" and a damn better premise then "I don't know what we're going to do yet, I haven't gotten to that yet!"

I'm glad you are making this mod with your friends, why don't you and your friends work on something that
-isn't stolen content
-is original and interesting, with perhaps some sort of good storyline
-you know exactly what you're going to do. You don't hire anyone, mappers or sound guys, until you have a solid foundation for a new idea for both storyline and gameplay mechanics, as well as a pretty good, detailed idea of what you want to make from the very beginning. Do this with your friends, and then ask for help.

I'm just trying to help you out. I've seen lots of failed mod ideas based on all kinds of lame, overdone, stolen concepts. Why don't you actually use your skill, and if you are imaginative enough, make your own idea instead of wasting your time with this? And don't steal the Zelda concept. If you absolutely must do Zelda, ask permission, and if permission is denied, don't do it. It's not yours.

I don't even know how Zelda would possibly work on the HL2 engine. Its not that sort of game...

Its not the HL2 engine. Its the Source engine. And you can make a much different game using it than hl2 was.

Games based on other things can do well also. There was a dragonball z mod for the original hl, and it did very well. Goldeneye source is, or was doing very well. I seem to remember playing that game before, yet it is still fun to play the mod.

I can see your point about having the gameplay and etc planned out beforehand, but its not a must. Perhaps Rensole, and the rest of his team, would like to include new members in the bigger decisions of the game.

As for making something original... thats also not neccesary. If people are so bored of this Zelda thing, how come each new game from Nintendo does so well? People want more Zelda. Of course, now you might say "Well, why will people play the mod when they can play the official one?." To which I simply answer... because when they beat one game, they will have another. Why would I Twilight Princes, when I can play OOT? Because they are two different games, with different gameplay and story.

I really dont see what your beef is with these guys. Well, at any rate, like I said before, GL to this team. I wish I could join and help out, but I am just starting school for Computer Animation. Maybe in a year I can join and help out hahah.
