The water monster?

What happened to the water monster? Did i miss it somehow? Becuse i never saw it.

i dont think it really was ever going to be in there, it didnt look like a monster to me but more a manipulation of the water, and i dont think the aliens have the power to do this, i think valve realised it was a bit of a farfetched monster so had it removed... thats just my theroy.

I heard it was just too hard to put in the game without it being severely scripted.

For example if the player interfered with the sequence at all..things would go horribly awry.

Has anyone delved into the GCF files to find any missing monsters (ie missing from the game). I distinctly remember seeing the Bullsquid in the leaked alpha, during the canals levels. It would have fitted in quite nicely too, wonder why it was dropped?

Yeah i never came up against the itchyosaur. In fact there's a complete lack of scary-monster-in-water moments. I always find them the most tense. There's something unerving about not knowing what's under the surface, only that it'll **** you up in a second.

I remember that map, I cant believe that Hydra was supposed to be there, it felt so empty without it there :flame:

Wasn't there Houndeyes too? I got the distinct impression that Lamarr was a houndeye are first. Mainly 'cause it didn't have a model in the leak But we're not really allowed to discuss it even now so let's just drop that subject

The bullsquids make a very short appearance in the "our benefactors" chapter, when you are in one of those holding case thingies. Look down and on a bridge there are these massive creatures that look a lot like bullsquids... But... Bigger.

The bullsquid was a Xen lifeform. The guys you saw on that bridge were some Combine thing. They look a little similar, but arent the same thing. They are called Crab Synths, and are in the strategy guide.
