throwing exploding barrels

is it just me cause when i throw a expladeable barrel at my enemies with the gravity gun i seem to take some damage....i looked on some videos and they dont explode like that....is this supposed to happen?

If the explosion occurs close enough to you, then yes, you will take damage. Nothing different. It's totally normal.

The daftest thing was taking a barrel to a sniper on the railtrack just after leaving Ravenholm. I was honestly going to chuck it at him and take him out, but the thing blew up in my face with his bullets! D'ohh!
