If this has been discussed before, im sorry i did a quick search and didint find much. In nova prospekt, when you use the combine teleporter with a xen relay just as it exploded, it took a week or so to get to kleiners lab. Wich raises a question or two for me.

Could breen still be alive in the future? I think its highly unlikely because

A. he didnt have too much knowledge of the xen relay technology
(or did he he? He WAS the administrator at Black mesa.... and might have gotten a lot of information out of mossman on the subject)

B. I dont feel hes needed for the story to continue

But my bigger question, do you think this new technology of traveling forward in time (perhaps even backwards) could be used in Ep3 or beyond?

But it's not really time travel. You're not actually leaping forward to a point in time. You're just in stasis as the world continues to revolve in your absence. Much like Gordon's state in the intervening years.

It's not so much time travel as it is being suspended outside of normal time and space. Which, as it turns out, is exactly where Gman exists.

Time travel is forbidden in our universe (proved by Einstein) and propably aswell in the Half-Life universe.

well, backwards time travel is forbidden(i would rather use the word 'impossible' )

Everything is possible, the universe just doesn't allow us. :p But ok impossible might be a better way to explain it.

But what if we used our ship to slingshot around the sun and went back in the late 80's to save a couple of whales!?!? :O

"Let me guess. You're from outer space?"
"No, I'm from Iowa, I only work in outer space."

lol sorry. I'm such a geek. I couldn't help it...

I've already suggested it. Repeatedly.

Must be cheap rent.

Um... "forbidden" isn't the correct word... and neither is "proved". If anything, it was "disproved", and that's only be his calculations. Newton's laws have been "proven", and yet they don't apply at the subatomic level (in the same way).

You can't just "disprove" something, because we don't know enough about it. That's what science fiction is all about. Now stop being such a party pooper.

 Woot! Star Trek references rock! :D

It is forbidden, once again. And yes Einstein has PROVEN you can't travel trough time, he has not disaproved that you can build some machine to travel back in time and space.

A Geek of the highest calibre you must be: your run of the mill geek would say 'Nuclear Wessels' and have done with it.

Actually, Einstien's equations allow for time travel to be possible, but he viciously denied it, saying "God does not play dice with the Universe"

What? No, that was quantum physics. You can't have time travel unless you want to **** over relativity.

Which he got very wrong. If God exists, that's the only game he could play.

Without space and time there is no matter (BYE GOD) unless he is in some other dimension watching over billions of planets with life in a universe larger than 80 billion lightyears, lol.

Um... yawhat??

For all we know, the terms space, time and matter may only exist only in our universe.
Hell, outside, there may not even be such a thing as existing, just.. something different.

Wouldn't 'travelling in time' simply bounce you into a different timeline/universe, so there would be no paradox and no physics to break?

We have no idea if there are any other universes, our visible part of the universe which is already immensly large might just be a tiny dot of superclusters in comparison to the entire stuff.

It is almost impossible to think there can be something else without space/time/matter, but hey, people once thought the earth was flat!
