Titan Quest Demo IS HERE !!

Downloading. ETA in about 6 mins. What kinda game should I expect?

Nevermind, got it.
/hugs his 20 mbit connection

This demo is borked. The titles are missing from the menu. It says something like 'tag not found' everywhere where text is supposed to be. Got my download from Gamershell btw.

Got mine from Fileplanet and it works fine. The demo is suprisingly long, I have played for at least an hour and I'm not even done yet. The graphics are good and it runs well, but some of the interfaces seem a little bland. I chuckle whenever my warrior enters his enrage mode after being struck, he starts punting enemies across the screen  Overall it looks to be a pretty good game, probably going to be worth your money if you are into this type of game.

The demo looks and runs beautifully! I suffer a pretty hefty fps drop upon entering caves, but its not that bad and will hopefully be optimized for the final release. I feel like some dropped items aren't showing up when you hold the Alt key down either which makes hunting for the drops a bit more frustrating.

The day/night cycle looks incredible though--with little subtle bits of flair like birds beginning their chirping as the night fades into day and the shadows elongating as evening falls. Very very cool. The animations are great as well.

I was hoping for more interaction with NPCs or the environment though. Perhaps there will be more in the final build. Great demo though!

Getting it now.

OT: Damn you DigiQ8...you and people that have Spore.net links throughout your entire sig bar. I keep opening that site by accident. :P

OK, trying it again. From a different mirror this time. Damn you guys for being so enthusiastic. I should be in bed.

EDIT Damn this. I get the same thing again: "Tag not found" Weird.

I found that setting shadows to medium solves the slideshow problem in caves. Also, I think that the alt-key will only show white items or better - no greys. The big thing that is lacking is a mini-map ala Diablo and Sacred. I find it a little irritating to have to go to the map screen all the time.

Hm... and I thought I was the only one irritated by accidently clicking on that big-ass sig bar.

D:

edit: Never heard of this game but I'll give the demo a try, although odds are I'll probably not enjoy it :(

There is that little map at the top right of the screen--unless you are including that in your judgement already. It helps a bit, though not enough unfortunately.

could someone compare this to some other rpgs, like nwn, diablo or sacred ?

i'll download it some time later, i'm busy getting e3 content on xblive. D:

Would like to hear some opinions on the gameplay too. Wanna give it a try but I'm pushing my bandwidth limit already for this month...

It's ok, doesn't have an epic feel to it though. It's probably saved till later on in the game.

Yeah I was thinking more along the lines of a full screen transparent map that would allow you to see further than that small map does. That really is my only gripe though, its a fun game.

It plays very similarly to Diablo 2, but it has 10 hotkeys that can be used for skills or potions, unlike Diablo's 4 for potions only. It also has enchanting items that are similar to to runes and Jems from Diablo 2 and various blacksmith items found in Sacred. It's your standard hack and slash RPG except in 3D and with ragdolls.

thanks staticprimer.

i'lll give it a whirl, hopefully the final game will be worth playing to the end.

edit: problem to solving tag thing

This will fix the tag not found errors:
(It may occur if you are installing the game on a Windows OS that is not in English)

In the Titan Quest\Settings folder open the defaults.txt file and add or edit the line to read:
language = English
to the bottom of the file.

Also in My Documents\My Games\Titan Quest Demo\Settings edit the options.txt file with the same line:
language = English
and save that as well.

Thanks to Eyejinx at the IGN boards

Great, thanks! I'll try that out right away when I get home.

That did the trick. Been playing the demo for the last two hours. Looks good. I am no big hack & slash fan but it was fun nonetheless. I found one glitch. For the 2nd main quest you need to speak to the Spartan commander. You can only gain access to him when you slay some monster. I already did that before getting the quest and now I can't finish it. That was after two hours of playing tho so I didn't really mind. Won't be buying this but it was worth the download.

The demo blows chunks :/

I think this game has the potential to bore you to death, literally.

Plays like diablo. It is good if that is your kind of thing, but I hate it.

meh, it's okay, when it's out i will take the time to finish it, i thought scared was fairly average but i took the time for that.

curse my love for rpg's.
