too busy

i have been trying to reinstall hl2's local files, but the steam servers say they are always too busy. i tried looking on the support section of the website and they say to just login again. this didnt work.

(and yes i made sure there were no firewalls running)

edit- also i can download all of my halflife 1.6 games, but not the hl2 ones

Try exiting Steam, and then deleting the "clientregistry.blob" file in the main Steam folder. Then restart Steam.

it deletes all my updates and steam has too update again. and it still doesnt work.

Yeah it resets your Steam connection, but your updates shouldn't dissappear :| (Although it might think it does have to download them all again)
Are you behind a firewall or router?

nvm i fixed it. i decided that the only thing my router was doing was making my downstairs 7 year old computer and ps2 (neither of which i use on the internet) connect to the internet,so i ate my router and connected my ethernet cable to my computer.
