Trouble with half-life 2

I know this makes me sound like a noob but i'm having trouble trying to get half- life 2 to work on my system. (this is the first computer game I have actually bought)
I Have:
pentium 4 Cpu 2.40 Ghz
128 MB of ram
NVIDIA GEForce4 MX 420 with 64 MB
with about 60MB available physical mem
and about 200MB Virtual memory
when ever i try to run it says available memory less than 128MB!!! 132956160
I ask because I hear of other people with 128MB ram being able to play it.

Maybe you have too many processes running (firewall, antivirus, etc.) in the background?

ps - first time I've seen a P4 2.4GHz with 128MB RAM

256MB RAM is the minimum. Don't expect the game to run if you don't meet the requirements. Yu've got to buy more RAM. It's not that expensive nowadays. It ran like crap on my 256MB RAM, I bought a 512 stick and it works very well.

yup- she's the RAM- 128mb just dont cut the cheese these days my friend.
