Trying to get Half life to run on Windows Vista. Please help.

Ive always wanted to play half-life and decided to buy the first game. I cant get it to run on my cpu tho. I have Windows Vista and tried running it with the compatibility wizard but it still wont run. Do I have to re-install the game with the wizard as well? Anyone know what compatibility settings I need to put down to get the game to run? Or is there a website I can visit to download something to make it work?

Take your CD key and register it with Steam. You can download the game (fully patched and working) via Steam and you will have you vista working copy without any hassle. Download Steam, install & make an account. Click the 'Games' tab and click 'register a product I already own'. http://store.steampowered.com/about/

Where the heck is the games tab?

Towards the top of the Steam window is says STORE GAMES NEWS COMMUNITY (or something similar).
Click GAMES to get to the Games tab.
