Can you set up hammer so that all the props from the "username" directory will apear in the prop view.
Im creating a map for a singleplayer mod for Half-Life 2 but ive seen some interesting props in CS:Source i was wondering if there is an import button or somethink i could use inorder to get those props.
Thx.

There is but one way and that is a long and somewhat illegal way.

There is no way that you can make, say HL2DM use CSS props from the CSS gcf files. However you can add custom stuff to a mod. So the fix for the above problem is to open up the CSS gcf file and extract the props you need and place them in your custom props folder in HL2DM. You will also have to make sure that every computer that should play this map has this setup.

This can be solved by disitributing these files and that is also where we start bending the law a bit.

Upon the release of HL2 and all the rest VALVe clearly stated that taking stuff from one mod to another was stealing and no mistake. Now they are no longer as clear on this point but it is nevertheless illegal. And if you choose to distribute these models (yes, even to people who own them the legal way) you are in fact comitting a crime.

So you've not only stumbled upon a mapping problem, but also a problem that might require a lawyer. And VALVe has a ton of those.

LOL:laugh:
I might try to make some custom modles then.
What great programes are there to create custom modles

XSI is what VALVe recommends.

You can find links to it in the SDK, although I never understood that tool..

Then there is ofcourse 3DStudioMax and Maya and all the other 3d tools out there... take your pick.
