In case anyone didn't know ... go to your Steam settings page - notice anything new?

It liveth.

(I felt this deserved it's own topic. Probably worthy of news page too)

EDIT: The survey status page is NOT updating atm, it is stuck with the results from January. It may even have been a mistake on VALVe's part, possibly :s hopefully not ... they wouldn't tell us anyway :P

Wonder if anyone will actually turn up with anything else? For example

VAC Status:

You have been ... PWNED! Bannage!
Gabe sends his love. And felhunters.

Along with my update, I got asked to do the valve hardware survey again.....how uninteresting!

That a CS server one the right, not CS:S. CS:S servers are still not secure :P
lolleredit :D

yup noticed that u caught me before the edit lol

Wow...
When I first checked my status, I could swear for my User ID it said "Greg", then quickly changed.

Yea...I got something else alright :P

Edit: Got really bored and made a small script, located at my domain, drkclan.com - It doesn't log, doesn't really do much really, just fun to mess with (my opinion).

NOTE: Above script best when viewed in 1024x768 resolution.

Sorry, I'm a realist.
:rolling:

About the only thing the anti-cheating world has going for it is HackCam.

Well they already said they would start logging cheat offences etc. so it makes sence that they would have enabled VAC2 in some degree, doesnt surprise me :)

Yes, I figured VAC got ban happy and banned me, then I looked around on my desktop and remembered I had too much time on my hands ;) :P

Hehe nice script, but it would be funnier if you could change the "in good standing" to something like Hacker, or "f*** you goodam pirat-hax0r!! You will never play HL² again!!!!11". Or make it possible to change the txt? :) :D

The default value for account name in that window is "greg" before Steam fills in your real account name. You must've opened it before Steam had a chance to update it.

Very possible, in fact I was thinking about that just this morning. I actually added a small php script to randomize the outcomes, just need a few ideas (about 40 or less characters (2 lines of text in the script)). I'm open to suggestions :D

theres nothing wrong with being realistic but one can have faith too ya know.. :|
i think game developers generally need to not only have anti-cheat software updated but also go after sites which host cheats/hacks.

yeah it could be expensive but the only way the idiots releasing cheats will learn is by being in legal trouble.

Faith? Faith in what? That anti-hack will ever totaly work? Yeah, thats faith alright... blind faith.

In all the history of computers there is always protection for something, but there is always a way around it. So theres no reason to believe that any anti-hack will ever really work (made by VALVe or third-party). Sure it deters cheaters, but never really stops them. At best VAC is a good scare tactic.

Agreed. But even that wont stop the circulation of cheats (P2P Networks).
